Tetsuya Naito vs. EVIL, Taiji Ishimori vs. Hiromu Takahashi added to 8/29 ‘Summer Struggle’ event

At New Japan Pro-Wrestling's 'Summer Struggle' show on 8/29 at Jingu Baseball Stadium, the IWGP Heavyweight, Intercontinental and Junior Heavyweight Championships will be on the line.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling made the announcement during their 7/25 Sengoku Lord event that on August 29th, as a part of their series of ‘Summer Struggle’ shows, they are going to be holding an event inside of Jingu Baseball Stadium. The stadiums seats over 30,000 people but that number will be cut down due to social distancing in the venue.

NJPW held a press conference on 7/28 and announced two matches for the stadium show on 8/29. Tetsuya Naito will get his rematch for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Titles at the event as he’ll challenge the double champion, EVIL. Taiji Ishimori is getting his shot at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship on 8/29 as he’ll challenge Hiromu Takahashi.

On July 29th, the Summer Struggle tour resumes with night four of the tour and the card has been set up for the forthcoming show in Hamamatsu. This event will not be streamed on NJPW World. The next show that’ll air on the streaming service is on 7/31. Here’s the match card for the 7/29 show:

– Gabriel Kidd, Yota Tsuji, Ryusuke Taguchi & Satoshi Kojima vs. CHAOS (YOSHI-HASHI, Toru Yano, Tomohiro Ishii & Hirooki Goto)
– Great Bash Heel (Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma) vs. Los Ingobernables De Japon (Shingo Takagi & SANADA)
– Yuya Uemura, Master Wato, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Kota Ibushi vs. Suzuki-Gun (DOUKI, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, El Desperado, Zack Sabre Junior & Taichi)
– CHAOS (SHO & Kazuchika Okada) vs. BULLET CLUB (Gedo & Yujiro Takahashi)
– Los Ingobernables De Japon (Tetsuya Naito, Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI) vs. BULLET CLUB (EVIL, Taiji Ishimori & Dick Togo)
– Yuji Nagata vs. Minoru Suzuki

Tomoaki Honma and Yota Tsuji have both been cleared to return to in-ring competition. They were pulled from the July 25th Sengoku Lord event as a precautionary measure because they filmed a TV show with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Tsuji nor Honma came into contact with said individual but were pulled from Sengoku Lord just to be safe. They’ll both be in action on July 29th.
