For the first time in two years, the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will return later this month.

The NXT tag team tournament, which first launched in 2015 and has taken place 10 times over the years, will return as part of a September 22 episode of the brand’s weekly programming.

While no competitors in the tournament have been revealed just yet, NXT General Manager Robert Stone teased that this year will feature a 14-team bracket, with representation from Raw, Smackdown, EVOLVE, and AAA, as well as NXT.

The Dusty Rhodes Classic was first launched to honor the wrestling legend and NXT trainer, who had passed away just weeks prior. The inaugural tournament was won by Finn Balor and Samoa Joe.

The Classic had been on hiatus since 2024, when Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin teamed up to win the bracket.

Along with Dusty Classic matches, two other segments have been confirmed for next week’s show.

Shortly after winning the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship, La Catalina will make her NXT in-ring return next week. The Lucha star will team with Thea Hail to face Zaria and Kelani Jordan in tag action, a match that was set up following a brawl between all four women on this week’s show.

Plus, it was confirmed that six-man tag action will go down when Birthright faces Zilla Fatu, Sean Legacy, and Dorian van Dux.

Fatu saved DVD and Legacy from an attack by rivals Birthright on this week’s NXT, which is why they’re all being paired up for next Tuesday’s program.
