WWE SmackDown Notes: The Usos Return, John Morrison & Sheamus Appear

The Usos make their return, Sheamus and John Morrison appear, Sasha Banks vs. Lacey Evans announced for next week and Roman Reigns enters the Royal Rumble match.

The first episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX in 2020 was live from Memphis, Tennessee and the show concluded with former 6-time WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos making their returns to WWE TV to save Roman Reigns from a beat down by Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler. Jimmy and Jey Uso last wrestled during the Summer of 2019 on RAW. Jimmy Uso made headlines recently when he appeared in court for a DUI arrest that he was later found not guilty for.

Also on tonight’s SmackDown, Sheamus made his return after several weeks of vignettes hyping his return. Shorty G was being ambushed by Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder until Sheamus made his way to the ring and chased off The Revival. When Sheamus turned towards Shorty G, he delivered a Brogue Kick to the former SmackDown Tag Team Champion.

Before The Miz fell in defeat to Kofi Kingston on SmackDown, it was revealed that he’ll be on next Tuesday’s edition of WWE Backstage on FS1 with Renee Young and Booker T. The Miz appeared to be frustrated after his loss to Kofi Kingston as the crowd boo’d him for attacking Kingston post-match. WWE backstage correspondent and interviewer Cathy Kelley attempted to get a word in with Miz after those sequence of events but answering the locker room door was John Morrison. Morrison told Cathy that The Miz was not taking questions at that moment.

On next week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Evansville, Indiana, Sasha Banks will meet Lacey Evans one-on-one. Also, in the main event of tonight’s show, Daniel Bryan teamed with Roman Reigns to take on King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler. As Bryan was about to pin Ziggler, The Fiend Bray Wyatt appeared and began to brawl with Bryan and choked Bryan out with the Mandible Claw. Bryan is challenging Wyatt for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble.

Prior to their tag team match, Bryan and Roman Reigns had a backstage segment during-which Bryan said he plans on heading into WrestleMania as Universal Champion. Roman stated that he’ll be entering this year’s Royal Rumble match and he’ll be looking to get back the title he never lost.
