WWE NXT notes: Return teased for TakeOver, no wrestlers in the crowd

A return has been teased for NXT TakeOver, an intergender tag team match has been confirmed for next week and more notes coming out of the 9/23 episode of NXT.

NXT’s next TakeOver event is set to take place on the WWE Network on October 4th. During the 9/23 episode of NXT, a video package aired to promote the return of a talent at TakeOver.

For tonight’s airing of NXT, there were no wrestlers shown in the crowd during the show. There was piped-in crowd noise for the matches.

Tom Phillips and Beth Phoenix called the action as it was announced that Wade Barrett and Vic Joseph were off this week. Vic called the action for 205 Live this past Friday along with Nigel McGuinness.

In the Eliminator Gauntlet main event, while KUSHIDA was still in the match, he was ambushed by Velveteen Dream and eliminated soon after. KUSHIDA and Dream have went back and forth over the past several weeks. Kacy Catanzaro competed in the women’s Battle Royal to open to the show and avoided elimination in a unique manner twice.

Ridge Holland also made his return to NXT and scored a win over Antonio De Luca. Scheduled for next week’s program is Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan versus Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish. The winners are moving on to TakeOver to face Breezango (Tyler Breeze & Fandango) for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Shotzi Blackheart versus Dakota Kai is official for next week, as well is Damian Priest and Io Shirai versus Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano.
