Due to the ongoing impeachment hearing, cable news coverage occupied the top twenty slots on Wednesday and affecting AEW and NXT’s viewership.

AEW finished 21st for the night and was only topped by MTV’s The Challenge of the non-cable news programs with a 0.29 in the 18-49 demo while averaging 741,000 viewers. They dropped 9.4 percent in the demo and decreased by 12.2 percent. They finished ahead of two NBA games and one NHL game.

While most of AEW’s key demos dropped from last week’s Beach Break episode, they improved by 7 percent with adults 18-34 and were up by 6 percent among men 12-34. They were hurt by their over 50 audience dropping 15.5 percent and women 18-49 dropped by 14 percent.

In Canada, Dynamite finished ninth among sports programming with 78,400 viewers and 49,000 in the 25-54 demo on TSN 2. The major sports event was the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens that did over 1.3 million viewers. There was also a Toronto Raptors vs. Washington Wizards game that did 456,000 viewers.

NXT finished outside of the top fifty cable programs at #62 with a 0.12 in the 18-49 demographic, which equals their lowest demo rating ever on the USA Network. Wednesday’s show averaged 558,000 viewers and was down by 20 percent in the demo and dropped 8 percent in viewers.

The 0.12 demo rating equals the mark set on December 30th when NXT went against the Cotton Bowl and the Brodie Lee Tribute edition of AEW. We don’t know what the exact viewers were this week in the demo, although the Dec. 30th rating equaled 158,000 viewers. So, in 18-49 viewers, it will either be the lowest or second-lowest in NXT’s history on the USA Network going back to September 2019.

Because it finished outside of the top fifty cable programs, we don’t have additional ratings information for NXT in the other demos.
