AEW Dynamite Grand Slam notes: Danielson-Omega draw, Britt Baker retains, TNT Title

Danielson-Omega went to a draw, Britt Baker and Ruby Soho headlines, Malakai Black defeats Cody and more took place at Dynamite Grand Slam

Kicking off AEW Dynamite Grand Slam in Arthur Ashe stadium was the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega taking on Bryan Danielson. The match went to a time-limit draw. Post-match, Danielson was ambushed by The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) and Adam Cole which led to Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy coming to his aid. Omega tweeted that there will not be a rematch.

In the main event, Britt Baker defeated Ruby Soho to retain her AEW Women’s World Title. Both Jamie Hayter and Rebel got involved.

Announced for the 9/29 Dynamite in Rochester, New York is Sammy Guevara challenging Miro for the TNT Championship. Miro made quick work of Fuego Del Sol on the most recent Rampage episode. Guevara came down to the ring to stop Miro’s post-match attack.

Malakai Black and Cody Rhodes went one-on-one at Dynamite Grand Slam. Black scored the win after using black mist on Cody. Brandi Rhodes also returned to AEW TV and she got involved early in the match. She got in the ring and sat cross-legged in front of Malakai Black and gave him the middle finger.

Before CM Punk’s match against Powerhouse Hobbs took place for the viewers in attendance, he had a promo segment live on TNT. Punk mentioned that it has been a long time since professional wrestling was in New York City. After his segment, he went to embrace Stephen Amell who was ringside.

Sting and Darby Allin bested FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler). Sting locked in the ‘Scorpion Deathlock’ on Harwood and submitted him.
