Next month, New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 16 will stretch over three days. Nights one and two of Wrestle Kingdom 16 are taking place at the Tokyo Dome on January 4th and 5th. The third day is January 8th and it is a joint-show with NJPW and Pro Wrestling NOAH.

NJPW is nearing the conclusion of their Best of the Super Juniors and World Tag League tournaments. Takami Ohbari, President of New Japan, spoke to Tokyo Sports and was asked about the upcoming Tokyo Dome shows. He said he wants people to focus on the Best of the Super Juniors and World Tag League finals but when it comes to Wrestle Kingdom 16, he would like for there to be ten matches on days one and two of the event.

First of all, I would like you to pay attention to the Best of the Super Juniors and the World Tag League, which are currently being held and will be decided on December 15 in Ryogoku. I would like you to understand that the [wrestlers] and staff are concentrating all their efforts on these events. I would like to have around 10 matches on both days [of the Tokyo Dome shows].

On day two of Wrestle Kingdom, there will be a STARDOM exhibition match and the competitors have yet to be announced. Below is the updated cards for Wrestle Kingdom 16 at the Tokyo Dome:

Day One (1/4)

  • IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: Shingo Takagi (c) vs. Kazuchika Okada

Day Two (1/5)

  • IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: Shingo Takagi or Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Will Ospreay
  • STARDOM Exhibition Match: Mayu Iwatani & Starlight Kid vs. Tam Nakano & Saya Kamitani
