On Wednesday, AEW Dynamite finished second among original cable programming topping the late NBA game with consistent week-to-week performance.

The April 6th edition from Boston averaged 989,000 viewers and approximately 496,000 (0.39) in the 18-49 demographic, per Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.

The show finished second on cable behind the Brooklyn Nets vs. New York Knicks, which averaged 1,305,000 and 0.44 in 18-49 on ESPN. AEW topped the late game between Phoenix and the L.A. Clipper, which averaged 1,017,000 and 0.31 respectively.

The figures were nearly identical to the prior week with a one-percent increase in both overall viewers and the key demo audience. Among 18-49s, women increased by six percent while dropping one percent.

In the 18-34 demo, females had a small increase that was offset by the male decrease with the demo static overall from last week at 0.24 and 170,000 viewers, per Thurston.

It was a noteworthy edition of Dynamite promoted around the second match ever between FTR and The Young Bucks and the first time on cable television after their November 2020 match at the Full Gear pay-per-view. Dynamite also featured the AEW debut of Samoa Joe, and a Tables match involving Jeff & Matt Hardy against The Butcher & The Blade.

In Canada, the show fell to 73,000 viewers on TSN 2 and did not rank among the top ten sports programs in the country for the day. It is the second consecutive week where viewership in Canada has fallen below 100,000 viewers.

Last week’s show aired against a big soccer game between Canada and Panama as well as a Toronto Raptors game. This week’s show aired against two NHL games and an NBA game. Curling is also going on and occupied two of the top ten slots but didn’t air head-to-head with AEW. This has also coincided with WWE performing well in Canada on Raw and Friday Night SmackDown in the lead-up to WrestleMania and is coming off a huge figure this past Monday.
