AEW Dynamite fell to its lowest overall viewership in its regular slot over the past year but managed to finish fourth on cable behind the NBA.

The May 4th edition of the show from Baltimore averaged 833,000 viewers and approximately 421,000 (0.32) in the 18-49 demographic, courtesy of Brandon Thurston from Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.

It was another big night for the NBA playoffs with Dynamite airing against the Philadelphia vs. Miami game that finished second on cable with 3,425,000 and 1.15 in 18-49. The late game between Dallas and Phoenix finished first with 4,171,000 and 1.47 in 18-49 with both games airing on TNT. Because TNT has a staggered feed, the late game at 10 p.m. ET would have aired against Dynamite in certain parts of the country – but not on the East Coast.

Dynamite’s overall viewership fell by 10 percent this week and was its lowest number in its regular time slot since May 16, 2021.

The 18-49 audience dropped by one percent but was still the program’s lowest since February 16, 2022.

AEW did see a jump in its 18-34 audience, which grew 28 percent from last week – however, excluding last week it was still the show’s lowest 18-34 audience since March 9th.

Dynamite’s older viewership was affected the most with a 14 percent drop among adults 35-49 and the 50+ audience dropped 13 percent from 0.38 last week to 0.33.

AEW still managed to beat everything else on cable besides the NBA including the two NHL playoff games and a soccer game on TUDN.

In Canada, AEW Dynamite averaged approximately 93,000 viewers on TSN 2, which was up from 61,000 last week. This week’s number is better than it sounds as they aired against Game 2 of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning and the Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees along with the NBA playoffs.
