The reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada was named a PR ambassador for his hometown of Anjo, Aichi, Japan. Okada partook in a press conference and had a photo op with Anjo Mayor Gaku Kamiya.

After receiving his letter of appointment, Okada promised to promote his hometown through his own activities.

On November 12th, New Japan is running a show in Okada’s hometown and it’ll mark the 70th anniversary of Anjo City (Anjō was elevated to city status in 1952), the 50th anniversary of New Japan Pro-Wrestling and the 10th anniversary of Okada becoming ‘The Rainmaker’. Okada said the following about the honor:

I am very happy to be able to hold a triumphant return match in my hometown on the 10th anniversary of Okada Kazuchika becoming ‘The Rainmaker’. I will do my best so that the people of Anjo City can watch and enjoy the wrestling matches. I will also be the PR ambassador for Anjo City, and I will do my best to promote both Anjo City and professional wrestling.

Throughout the remainder of 2022, Okada will be promoting attractions in the city such as tourist attractions and local specialties.
