WWE Raw tops cable for the night, plus January vs. February comparisons

WWE Raw was the top program on cable Monday night while overall viewership dropped to a six-week low.  

The February 27th edition of Raw from Grand Rapids averaged 1,768,000 viewers and approximately 669,000 (0.51) in the 18-49 demographic. (Data: Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily).

Viewership was down 12% from last week and was its lowest average since January 16th.

In the 18-49 demographic, the show dropped by nine percent but was up from the figure posted two weeks ago. In the key demo, the male decline was ten percent with women down by six percent.

The 18-34 demo experienced a 15 percent decline and the largest decline over the course of the three-hour program at 22.5 percent.

Adults 35-49 dropped four percent from last week, although women in the demo increased by six percent.

Adults 50+ had a sizable decline from 0.98 last week to 0.84 as last week’s show topped two million viewers for the overall average.

The first hour of Raw averaged 1,890,000 viewers and 0.55 in the 18-49 demographic. It featured the opening segment with Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa that led to a match with the Street Profits, as well as Brock Lesnar appearing on the VIP Lounge to accept Omos’ challenge for WrestleMania, and Cody Rhodes vs. Chad Gable.

The second hour dropped to 1,748,000 viewers and 0.52 in the demo and the third hour fell to 1,665,000 and 0.47 in the demo.

The show was headlined by Becky Lynch & Lita capturing the women’s tag titles from Dakota Kai & IYO SKY with a run-in by Trish Stratus, who was not advertised for the show.

Throughout the show, viewership dropped 12 percent and the 18-49 audience dropped 14.5 percent. The smallest decline throughout the show was among adults 50+ at eight percent.

In Canada, the show averaged 272,100 viewers and 103,500 in the 25-54 demographic on Sportsnet 360. It was down 22 percent in viewers and 41 percent in the demo from last week’s massive show in Ottawa, which was among the highest Raw numbers in years. This week’s show ranked second for the night among sports programs behind the NHL.

For the month of February, Raw averaged 1,863,000 viewers, 0.52 in the 18-49 demographic and 0.35 in the 18-34 demo. In January, the show averaged 1,848,000 viewers, 0.53 in 18-49, and 0.37 in 18-34 (three of the five episodes in January faced football competition including an NFL playoff game, although also had the advantage of a massive Raw is XXX special and the episode following the Royal Rumble).

In Canada, Raw averaged 301,800 viewers and 137,700 in the 25-54 demographic in the month of February. In January, the show averaged 271,700 viewers and 128,700 in the demo.
