The next special for the NXT brand is Heatwave on August 22nd. Taking place on the 8/15 show is a singles match between Wes Lee and Dijak. The winner is heading to Heatwave to challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship.

Noam Dar has been claiming he was Heritage Cup Champion since Oro Mensah was who lost the Cup to Nathan Frazer. Dar put ‘his’ Heritage Cup on the line against Tyler Bate and Bate got the win in the fifth round with a 2-1 score. Later in the show, Heritage Cup Champion Nathan Frazer told Dar he’d give him a shot at the Cup if Dar admitted that his was fake. Dar did just that and he’s now going to be challenging Frazer for the Cup at Heatwave.

Also set up for the 8/22 special is Trick Williams versus Ilja Dragunov. Before Williams meets Dragunov, he’ll be taking on Drew Gulak on 8/15.

In the main event of the show, Dominik Mysterio successfully defended the North American Championship against Dragon Lee. Rey Mysterio was in Lee’s corner and WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley was in Dominik’s corner. She slid Dominik his title to use but it was snatched away by Rey. While the referee’s back was turned, Rhea hit Dragon Lee with her belt which led to Dominik retaining.

Post-match, Ripley began to push Rey around. Lyra Valkyria made the run-in and fought the Women’s World Champion off.

The Schism (Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid, Rip Fowler & Ava) along their followers are still on the search for The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed). They surrounded the ring during Ivy Nile’s match against Kiana James. The former Diamond Mine member was distracted by The Schism and lost. NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo and Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo made the save for Nile and on 8/15, they are defending their titles against Reid and Fowler.

Before Rey’s appearance in the main event, he had backstage segments with Roxanne Perez and Thea Hail. He gave a pep talk to Hail and afterwards, Andre Chase and Duke Hudson walked into frame. Thea mentioned that Chase threw in the towel for her at Great American Bash

NXT talent Myles Borne accompanied Drew Gulak and Charlie Dempsey to the ring for their tag match against Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs. Gulak sent Borne to the back because he did not have water on-hand. As the match was ongoing, commentator Vic Joseph made a comment about Dempsey’s ‘regal’ approach to wrestling, referencing his father William Regal. Damon Kemp ambushed Jensen from behind and Dempsey and Gulak went on to get the win.

Scheduled for 8/15 is a singles match between Dana Brooke and Blair Davenport. Davenport defeated Kelani Jordan on tonight’s program.
