Hiromu Takahashi loses DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Title to a yellow iPhone 14, regains title

Three title changes in quick succession.

The reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi was in action at NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed. He teamed up with Tetsuya Naito at the 10/28 show and they took on Yuya Uemura and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA.

The match went to a time limit draw. As Takahashi was exiting the stage area, Danny Limelight snuck up behind him and attempted to score a pin fall victory over Hiromu to win the DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship that Takahashi is in possession of. Limelight was unable to capture the belt.

Former ROH Women of Honor World Champion Sumie Sakai posted a video to X of herself and a referee sneaking up on Takahashi while he was in a hotel room. The referee counted to three while Takahashi was sleeping and crowned Takahashi’s iPhone 14 as the new Heavymetalweight Champion because the phone was laying on him.

Sakai then pinned the phone and shortly after, Takahashi woke up and pinned Sakai to regain the championship.

The 33-year-old Takahashi is scheduled for DDT Ultimate Party on November 12th. He’ll be defending the Ironman Heavymetalweight Title against Kazuki Hirata.
