AEW Battle of the Belts IX Results: Starks & Bill Defeat Jericho & Guevara in Street Fight

Tag Team Championship Street Fight

AEW Battle of the Belts IX began right where Collision left off as the AEW Tag Team Championships were on the line in a Street Fight and the four men began the match by brawling outside by the production trucks. 

Sammy Guevara brought back the golf cart he’d been associated with before and nailed both Starks and Big Bill cracking the windshield of the cart. 

The fight then spilled onto the actual street where Big Bill nailed Sammy Guevara with a backpack filled with bricks and then tried to throw a brick at Sammy’s head only to have it go through a car window. Big Bill was then double-suplexed through Rhett Titus’ car who got a Judas Effect for complaining about it. 

Starks went on to use a plunger on Jericho’s face along with Christmas decorations. Jericho dragged Starks to a copy machine and smushed Starks’ face into it, proudly displaying his work. 

They then continued into a catering-type area and hit each other with different types of food, drink, and kitchen equipment when Sammy pulled out some incredible parkour and then brandished a fire extinguisher.

Finally, the four men entered the arena to cheers (with some audible boos as well) and Jericho set up a table in the timekeeper’s area and went to the top of what was described as a speaker box when Takeshita appeared nailing Jericho with a kendo stick to the head and allowing Big Bill to hit Jericho with a powerbomb through the table. 

Meanwhile, on the stage, Sammy Guevara climbed the lighting truss and went to hit a Swanton bomb from fifty feet up when Powerhouse Hobbs appeared and pulled Starks out of the way at the last second, allowing Starks to pick up the pinfall.

Next, another return promo package for Serena Deeb aired.

TBS Championship

The next match was a TBS Championship match with Julia Hart defending her title against Anna Jay. Julia Hart focused on Anna Jay’s kinesio-taped shoulder and Jay sold it for a good chunk of the match, ultimately submitting to Julia’s Hartless finisher. 

Trouble in Jarrettville

A backstage promo from earlier today was shown with Jeff Jarrett’s group was all arguing amongst each other as Jarrett wanted Jay White out. Satnam Singh came in with treats that his mother made and he tried to feed one to Jay White and was upset when he seemingly didn’t like it.

International Championship

The main event of Battle of the Belts IX would see Orange Cassidy defending his International Championship against Preston Vance. Before the match could begin, Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett came out and sat themselves at the bottom of the ramp with chairs to get a close look at this match. At first, the referee was going to throw them all out but Cassidy stopped him and said it was okay for them to stay and watch. 

 

At one point in the match, Preston Vance threw Orange Cassidy into all three members of Undisputed Kingdom at ringside and got into their faces when they complained.

Cassidy went on to win with an Orange Punch and Beach Break. After the match, Strong & Co. got into the ring and cornered Cassidy but merely applauded him instead of getting physical as the show went off the air.
