JD McDonagh says it’s ‘absolutely beyond belief’ that he’ll be returning to OTT alongside Finn Bálor

Bálor and McDonagh are headed home.

The reigning WWE World Tag Team Champions are Judgment Day’s Finn Bálor and J.D. McDonagh. Coming up for Bálor is a grudge match against Damian Priest at Bad Blood in October.

Several weeks after that, him and McDonagh will be headed back to Europe for WWE’s tour of the U.K. and Ireland. Along the way, the duo will be in action for Over The Top Wrestling in Ireland. McDonagh spoke about that while chatting with Irish Wrestling & Entertainment. He said he does not know what they’ll be doing on the show.

Man, it’s absolutely beyond belief (that I’ll be back in OTT). The next couple of months are just something 14-year-old me couldn’t have written it any better, you know? Returning to the homeland with Finn (Bálor) for OTT. It’s absolutely unbelievable.

Again, I leave that up to Joe (Cabray). I have no idea (what we’re doing on the show). I’m coming in blind, and I don’t know what we’re doing.

There was a story that Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes told on his ‘What Do You Wanna Talk About?’ YouTube series that had to do with McDonagh and OTT. Rhodes went long in a match and it took away from McDonagh’s main event.

J.D. ended up getting into a social media back-and-forth with Cody’s wife, Brandi Rhodes. McDonagh joked that the beef was squashed when he got to Monday Night Raw. By the time they talked, it was already a water under the bridge situation.

I have, yeah (I talked to Cody Rhodes about the OTT situation). I did. My first day on Raw, we met up and we squashed the beef. The yearslong beef. Nah, I had gotten over it by that stage of course. Water under the bridge but, no, Cody is a class act. I wasn’t even sure he would remember who I was by the time I got to Raw but, he made a beeline for me and let me know that he was sorry about it and I said to him, ‘Look, one day you’re gonna lose that title. You can put me over then.’

The National Stadium in Dublin is playing host to OTT’s Tenth Year Anniversary on October 26th.

It’ll be Bálor’s in-ring debut for the promotion and it’ll be McDonagh’s first match for OTT since 2022. He is a two-time OTT World Champion.
