WWE NXT notes: Oba Femi retains, Bayley & Giulia teaming, DDP ringside, Izzi Dame helps Tony D’Angelo

Closing out the 1/21 edition of NXT on CW was Oba Femi defending the NXT Championship against Eddy Thorpe. He successfully retained in what was his first defense of the belt. Watching the match was A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller). Femi is going to be appearing on The Grayson Waller Effect on 1/28. After Femi retained, former champion Trick Williams approached him. While they were face-to-face, Thorpe popped up but Trick put him back on the mat with the ‘Trick Shot.’

There was an in-ring segment with Bayley and she addressed Roxanne Perez. Coming out to the ring to join her was NXT Women’s Champion Giulia and she showed respect to Bayley. Roxanne and Cora Jade entered the picture and a brawl broke out between the two sides. A tag match was set up for 1/28.

Seated ringside for the NXT Championship main event was WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page.

Kicking off the show was a North American Title match that saw Tony D’Angelo defending against Ridge Holland. Shawn Spears, Niko and Brooks Jensen got involved and targeted The Family (Tony D’Angelo, Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo & Luca Crusifino). Izzi Dame swooped in and delivered a big boot to Holland to help D’Angelo retain. Dame looked at D’Angelo and said, ‘Now, we’re even.’ She repeated that to him later in a backstage segment. Stacks, Crusifino and Adriana Rizzo approached D’Angelo and questioned where he was at during their tag match against Niko and Jensen. D’Angelo said Izzi was holding him up, but Stacks has been the ‘underboss’ of The Family for two years and should be able to handle situations without him having to be present.

A Heritage Cup match took place that saw Lexis King low blow Charlie Dempsey to hold on to the Cup. He had two wins to Dempsey’s one.

Trick Williams and Wes Lee got into a physical altercation in the locker room. After Lee defeated Dion Lennox in singles action, he called out Trick for a match on 1/28 in Atlanta, Georgia. Williams hit the ring, took Lee out and accepted the challenge.

Adding on to the 1/28 show lineup is a singles bout between Ethan Page and Cedric Alexander.
