The storyline is addressed by Naomi.
The February 14th edition of Friday Night SmackDown saw the first development in the storyline of who attacked Jade Cargill in late 2024. Cargill has not been on WWE programming since the attack.
Footage was shown of Cargill being stretchered off to an ambulance and walking near the scene was Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis showed the footage to Women’s Tag Team Champions Naomi and Bianca Belair and they retaliated on Raw.
Naomi appeared on HUGE POP! with Donnie DaSilva and Jimmy Korderas and addressed the storyline and the people who say she attacked Cargill. Naomi said she is being framed.
Why do they do that to me? Do you think I’m that horrible? Do you think I’m that conniving and that evil that I would try to kill her? Whoever did it, that was attempted murder. That was crazy. That was insane.
(Co-host mentioned that Naomi’s father-in-law Rikishi once ran over Stone Cold Steve Austin) I may get the Stink Face from my daddy but I did not get trying to kill Jade (Cargill) from him. No! No! That is my sister, that is my girl and I’ll be glad when we get to the bottom of this because I’m being framed.
She went on to heap praise onto Cargill. Naomi said whoever attacked her must’ve had jealously built-up and could not handle seeing Cargill’s rise in WWE.
She is (Jade Cargill is young in her WWE run). She’s phenomenal. She’s one of one. The sky is the limit. There is no limits for her and I think that’s why whoever did what they did, did it because they see where she’s going. She’s an undeniable star and is gonna do history-making things in this division and whoever it was just couldn’t handle that or had some jealousy or some hateration going on or something but we gonna get to the bottom of it, you know? And we’re gonna get sister back.
Following up on that, Donnie DaSilva mentioned that Naomi being behind the attack would lead to her being a major heel. She was then asked about her interest level in being a heel.
She does not want to force it and said if it happens, it has to come about naturally. If she is to divert from being a babyface, Naomi explained that she’d want it to be all systems go behind that run. She feels she’s an established babyface that can be slotted into any position.
At this point, I do love what Naomi has done and become at this point. However, I don’t ever want to become stagnant or complacent or just coasting and I do feel like there is a time for the GLOW and the character of Naomi to change or evolve and so I’m always up for that challenge and I’m always thinking and pushing myself but also, I don’t wanna force anything and I feel like that timing has to be right and it has to be thought out because for me to change after being so connected and established and with something that still works, I would want it to be worth it and I would want to go all in with it if that does mean me going to the darker side. I don’t wanna throw that away because it will be a big deal. Not just for me but I think for fans. I still think I am a very safe woman on the roster where you can kind of place (me) everywhere and I’m (an) established and strong baby. So, if I was to get away from that, we gotta go all the way. I got to be nasty, I gotta get dirty, I got to be something y’all ain’t never seen before. Everything got to change and I’m up for it. I would love that.
Both Naomi and Bianca Belair are scheduled to be part of the women’s Elimination Chamber match at the March 1st Premium Live Event. The winner of the Chamber will head to WrestleMania 41 to challenge Rhea Ripley or IYO SKY for the Women’s World Championship.
