Luger still basking in the Hall of Fame induction.
It is tradition that at WrestleMania, the inductees of that year’s Hall of Fame class are brought out on stage to be honored. That was the case at WrestleMania 41 as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Michelle McCool, Fred Ottman (Typhoon) and the family of the late John Tenta (Earthquake) were on stage to be acknowledged. Missing from the group was Lex Luger.
Luger and Diamond Dallas Page appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show. Page said Luger could not get out of bed because he was exhausted from the Hall of Fame the night prior. He added that they’re ‘east coast guys.’
Luger: It’s wild how that stuff catches fire. The guys knew I’m a 4 AM’er now and with all that happened, the injury and everything, the next day on Saturday, I could hardly get out of bed. So, I just called the guys and they were so cool about it and said, ‘Look, we’d love to have you down there. Let’s see how you feel later in the day’ but, it was obvious by late afternoon, that time, that I wasn’t gonna be able to get out there.
DDP: He couldn’t get out of bed. What a lot of guys don’t realize is that, first of all, we’re east coast guys. So, it’s not even starting till 10 o’clock which is 1 in the morning for us and Lex is a 9 o’clock off the bed.
Luger: I just told ‘em, ‘I’m wiped, guys.’
DDP: It wasn’t like he didn’t wanna be there.
Luger was asked if he’s bummed about missing it and he stated that he’s still basking in the honor.
Luger: Oh, I was still basking in it. Like I said, I’m still basking in that. Of course, Saturday would have been great… It was a no-go so…
DDP: When he shuts off, he shuts off that phone…
Luger: If I could have, I have would have.
DDP: Yeah, he would have been there and for anybody not to think that…
