Wrestlemania 42 might not actually take place in New Orleans, Louisiana, despite the show’s location already being announced earlier this year.
In a statement obtained by Wrestlenomics, the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, which was named as a partner for the event earlier this year, wrote that next year’s Wrestlemania card is no longer planned to take place in the city.
While the plan remains in place to host Wrestlemania sometime beyond 2026, the foundation noted that New Orleans will instead present Money in the Bank next year.
“The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and New Orleans & Company are working closely with our friends at TKO to expand our long-standing partnership,” the organization told Wrestlenomics. “Which will include UFC 318 on July 19, 2025, Money In The Bank in 2026, and WrestleMania – which will move from the currently scheduled 2026 timeframe to a future year.”’
Shortly after the report was posted, Fightful Select confirmed with WWE sources that the statement was accurate. Reps within the company noted that the change is part of a new deal with the city, adding Money In The Bank to an agreement which already included a UFC card this year and a future Wrestlemania date.
It was noted by the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer on social media that he’s expecting an announcement to emerge soon regarding the development.
WWE’s plan to host Wrestlemania 42 in New Orleans was announced back in February by The Rock during an appearance on Smackdown. It’s unclear where the event will land now that it’s no longer expected for the Caesars Superdome on April 11 and 12.
The event was scheduled to be New Orleans’ third time presenting a Wrestlemania card, returning to the city after last presenting the spectacle back in 2018.
