Mercedes Moné has earned a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship after winning the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament.
She defeated Jamie Hayter in the opening match of the main card at AEW Double or Nothing.
The match began with exchanges of strikes and some mat grappling, but escalated throughout.
After Moné hit a meteora on Hayter from the apron to the floor, the story began to focus on targeting Hayter’s lower back.
The crowd were fully engaged as the intensity and physicality grew throughout.
The audience bit on a series of big near-falls, with the finish coming via a flash pin by Moné after a reversal out of a Hayterade attempt.
