The third match for Saturday Night’s Main Event was made official during Monday’s taping of SmackDown in Pittsburgh.
In the opening segment, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton were in the ring reflecting on their match at Night of Champions when Drew McIntyre made his return to interrupt.
The segment climaxed with McIntyre taking an RKO, and later, a graphic was displayed to announce McIntyre vs. Orton at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 in Atlanta.
McIntyre has not wrestled since the last Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, when he lost to Damian Priest in a steel cage match.
