Jelly & Randy

SmackDown from Nashville kicked off with Jelly Roll participating in the weekly “walk-ins” and greeting and hugging Randy Orton. Orton said that Jelly Roll was looking great, and Jelly said he was looking forward to tonight.

The Goon Troop

Out first tonight was LA Knight, who called the Seth Riders a “goon troop” and said they couldn’t get the job done when trying to take him out. This brought out Paul Heyman, who told Knight he had no future. This brought out Solo Sikoa and his MFT, and Sikoa said Heyman had to leave or they’d put him through the announce table like they did last year, and Heyman obliged. Sikoa then turned his attention to Knight, telling him to leave as well. Knight declined and was surrounded when Jimmy Uso appeared with chairs and fought off the MFTs. Talla Tonga was going to take on the two faces with their chairs, but Sikoa backed him down. Nick Aldis then appeared and made a tag team match with Sikoa & Mateo taking on Knight and Jimmy Uso later tonight in the main event. Aldis again had no plan for a main event until this conveniently fell in his lap.

Allies of Convenience

Backstage, Alexa Bliss requested that Charlotte Flair be at ringside tonight to “make a statement” before Evolution on Sunday. (Side note: if this is really the tag team name they’re sticking with, let’s hope they never officially name the Seth Riders.) After a commercial break, Fred Durst was shown in the crowd. From there, we went into our first match, which was a Fatal 4-Way between Roxanne Perez, Sol Ruca, Kairi Sane, and Alexa Bliss, all with their tag partners accompanying them to ringside. Bliss was the only one to get a televised entrance. Sol Ruca impressed early in this match, showing off with a handspring moonsault over the top rope to the outside.

Later, she hit a double Soul Smasher onto Bliss and Perez, but Raquel Rodrigeuz put Perez’s foot on the rope. This led to all of the tag partners fighting on the outside, with Charlotte Flair throwing Rodriguez over the announce desk and taking out Joe Tessitore. Then Sane went for the Insane Elbow, but Bliss got her feet up and hit the Sister Abigail DDT for the win.

WWE Tag Team Championship

Next up was the WWE Tag Team Championship with The Street Profits defending against The Wyatt Sicks. The Wyatts took control of the match throughout the first commercial break, until Montez Ford hit a Sunset Flip Powerbomb off the top rope on Dexter Lumis. Angelo Dawkins went on a high-flying offensive run as Erick Rowan began slowly making his way down the ramp. The match went on, and Joe Gacy kicked out of the Blockbuster from the Profits. Ford then hit a Frog Splash off the top rope, but Rown pulled Ford out of the ring behind the referee’s back. Dawkins then knocked Rowan into the Timekeeper’s area, as Ford then missed a second attempt at a Frog Splash with Gacy & Lumis hitting a Suplex/Power Bomb combination to win the tag titles.

Afterward, backstage, MCMG, DIY, and Fraxiom started arguing, having just seen the Wyatts win. Rey Fenix and Andrade then entered, saying they were part of the tag division now as well. DIY freaked out and said they were going to talk to Nick Aldis.

Jelly Roll “Performs”

Next, Jelly Roll performed “On Fire” for about a minute when Logan Paul appeared, knocking over drums and unplugging amps. Paul insulted Jelly Roll, saying he’s disgusted by celebrities and influencers coming into and profiting from WWE.

Paul tried to announce that his podcast had inked a long-term deal with WWE, but Jelly interrupted, saying no one in Nashville gives a damn about his podcast. Randy Orton then appeared, yelling at Logan Paul for insulting Jelly Roll. As Orton was yelling at Paul, Drew McIntyre hit a Claymore on him from out of nowhere. Logan Paul then started attacking Orton when Jelly Roll threw him down, and security broke it up. Paul then smashed all of the band’s equipment.  Later backstage, Jelly Roll asked to be in Orton’s corner tomorrow night at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

R-Truth vs. Aleister Black

R-Truth (whose entrance wasn’t televised) then took on Aleister Black. Both men worked aggressively to start the match, leading to R-Truth grabbing a chair, but Black was able to intercept. Black considered using the chair himself, but the referee screamed that if he used it, he would disqualify him. Black went to use it anyway, and the referee took it away, negating what he had just said. Truth to the opportunity to roll Black up for the win. Has anyone risen and fallen as quickly as Truth has? It’s mystifying. Backstage, Black was upset and almost caught up to Truth when Damien Priest convinced him to stop. Black feigned agreement but then attacked Priest, hitting him with the Black Mass and saying he can now let it go.

Stratus & Stratton, Jade & Naomi

Next, Wade Barrett was in the ring with WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton and challenger Trish Stratus (neither of whom had televised entrances), and the two talked about their match at Evolution on Sunday. The two then exchanged age-based barbs when Naomi interrupted, but before she could say much of anything, Jade Cargill jumped her, and officials separated them.

LA Knight & Jimmy Uso vs. Solo Sikoa & JC Mateo

Before the main event, it was announced that next week on SmackDown, both John Cena and Cody Rhodes would “be under the same roof”. This led into the final match, with Solo Sikoa and Jeff Cobb Mateo taking on LA Knight and Jimmy Uso. This match went basically as expected, with both teams making saves after their opponents hit finishers. Paul Heyman then appeared at ringside with his phone, distracting Knight and allowing Talla Tonga to take him out with a big boot. Jimmy Uso used this to his advantage, rolling up Sikoa for the win. Then things kicked into high gear as Sikoa started screaming at Heyman for causing him to lose. LA Knight then surprised Sikoa with a BFT, followed by Bron Breakker appearing and hitting Knight with a spear. Finally, Bronson Reed emerged and hit a Tsunami on Knight to end the show.
