Hulk Hogan was honored with a ten-bell salute at Saturday’s NJPW G1 Climax 35 card in Tokyo, Japan.

Before action kicked off at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo this Saturday, talent gathered around the ring for a tribute to Hogan, including a ten-bell salute. You can watch footage of the moment below:

Hogan, who passed away Thursday at the age of 71, had numerous stints in NJPW, appearing for the promotion during both the 80s and 90s.

Hogan’s reign included a year-long stint as the IWGP Heavyweight Champion, claiming the belt in 1983 after defeating Antonio Inoki in the finals of the IWGP League. He would drop the belt back to Inoki roughly a year later.

NJPW appearances for Hogan saw him share the ring with many other legends: Stan Hansen, Masahiro Chono, Great Muta, Tatsumi Fujinami, and others. He appeared on three different Tokyo Dome cards after the venue, which would soon become a legendary location for wrestling, was opened in 1988.

Earlier this week, NJPW’s English site posted an In Memoriam article detailing his history with the promotion. The promotion’s streaming service, NJPW World, has a selection of past Hogan matches available free to watch for the next week.

NJPW’s ceremony was just a few hours after WWE presented its own tribute as part of Friday Night Smackdown.
