Brie Bella stated on her podcast that she considers her husband Bryan Danielson’s contract with AEW a “roadblock” to her making a return to a WWE ring.

The comments were made during a solo episode of The Nikki & Brie Show on YouTube. She explained that while she is constantly asked about wrestling again, she feels her family connection to a rival promotion is a complication for some within WWE.

She framed the issue as an obstacle that she has come to accept, stating:

My roadblock is the fact my husband is with the rival company. And, you know, for some people it makes them uncomfortable at WWE thinking I would be there when my husband’s with AEW. And you know what? That’s okay.

Brie elaborated that she does not hold any anger or bitterness over the situation, respecting that people are entitled to feel that way.

I’ve kind of looked at that roadblock as people have the right to feel. If people feel uncomfortable, they’re uncomfortable. And that’s okay. They have that right. Does it bum me out at times that I wish their feelings were different? Absolutely. But it doesn’t make me angry. And it doesn’t make me bitter.

Ultimately, she said she views the circumstances as a sign that she should remain focused on her life outside of wrestling. She noted that a return to the ring “might not be in my era right now.”
