Leon Slater wins quick three-way to retain X-Division title
Tonight’s episode of TNA iMPACT!, taped last week at the Thomas M. Ryan Center in Kingston, Rhode Island, started with a recap of the top headlines from last Thursday’s episode. Most notably, Mike Santana bounced back from his Slammiversary loss in the main event of the show, beating Joe Hendry clean.
The first match of the night saw Leon Slater put his title on the line for the first time, defending the X-Division Championship against Cedric Alexander and Jason Hotch.
This match, expectedly, had a hot start, with quick sequences between all three. The fight went outside of the ring, where Hotch scored a moonsault out of the corner onto both Slater and Alexander. Hotch rolled Slater into the ring, but was caught with a draping Twist of Fate as he attempted to climb through the ropes.
Slater went to the top for his Swanton 450 onto Hotch, giving him a clean win in a match which only went a few minutes. Alexander, who lost without getting pinned, faced off against Slater afterward.

Backstage after the match, Alexander told Slater that he “snuck away with” the win. While Slater didn’t agree about the “snuck” comment, he said that he wants to tie up loose ends, and thus is open to facing Alexander. Later in the show, it was confirmed that Slater vs. Alexander has been booked for TNA Emergence.
When asked about why she is immediately using her rematch clause against Jacy Jayne, Masha Slamovich said, “weakness waits.”
Dani Luna, Indi Hartwell win in tag action
In her first appearance since beating Tessa Blanchard at Slammiversary, Indi Hartwell teamed with Dani Luna to take on Jody Threat and “Miss NXT” Arianna Grace. Victoria Crawford, who sarcastically asked to mentor both Luna and Hartwell during last week’s episode, appeared at ringside a minute into this match.
There was some hesitancy from former tag partners Luna and Threat to fight eachother once they were both in the ring, although they eventually got to battling it out. Hartwell got a hot tag onto Threat a few minutes into the match, getting a near fall after a belly-to-belly slam.
Luna tagged back into the match, but found herself struggling against Threat. The Canadian Threat got a near fall after a stellar-looking Michinoku Driver. Threat, who said she’s “sorry” for what she’s doing to Luna, tried to pick her up for another move. But Luna escaped, then scored a Luna Landing to earn a pinfall victory. Luna did a lot of work to earn a win alongside Hartwell in this one.

As Jake Something was cutting a promo about how he wants a shot at Steve Maclin’s International Championship, Maclin himself entered the shot and had a staredown with Something. That match was later confirmed for next week’s TV.
The Rascalz overcome former tag champs
Former TNA World Tag Team Champions Ryan and Nic Nemeth looked to rebound from their Slammiversary loss in the next bout of the night, taking on Myron Reed and Zachary Wentz, who also came up short in the four-way ladder match.
The Nemeths tried to jump The Rascalz as they posed in corners of the ring, but The Rascalz saw the attack coming, and instead did stereo moonsaults off the top to get the bout started.
The Rascalz tried for stereo tope suicidas, but Wentz got clipped with a forearm as he landed. The Nemeths picked on Reed with double team moves in the ring, getting the former champs in control of the match for the first time.
Reed reversed a suplex from Nic into a stunner, giving him the chance to tag Wentz into the match, ending a breakdown that Reed suffered for minutes on end. Wentz scored a pair of elbows to Ryan and then a snap German Suplex. He came running off the ropes for a move, but fell after getting kicked by Nic, who was at ringside (Nic’s boot wasn’t remotely near Wentz’s head, but that was the idea).
Ryan scored a huge DDT, Nic hit a Famouser, then Ryan went for a pin, but Wentz kicked out. Reed came leaping over the ropes with a cutter to Nic, causing them to both land on the floor – he landed this move at Slammiversary, it looks absolutely wild. Wentz hit a Spiral Tap to Ryan in the ring for the pinfall win for The Rascalz.

The Nemeths refused to leave the ring after their loss. Nic stated that their loss at Slammiversary was a “fluke.” They then said that they will invoke their rematch clause for the tag team championships against The Hardy Boys at TNA Emergence on August 15.
A frustrated Ryan started picking on Rhode Island, stating that they have no sports teams to even make fun of (AHL’s Providence Bruins fans wouldn’t appreciate that line), and everyone there is ugly. These comments were offensive to The Home Town Man, who came to the ring and demanded an apology from Ryan.
Ryan was about to mention that he knows Home Town Man is Cody Deaner, but “HTM” cut him off by making the crowd sing his theme (“He’s a Home Town Man, he’s a Home Town Man”).

The Nemeths started brawling with the Home Town Man, who insisted he receive an apology from them. The Nemeths unmasked HTM during the attack, trying to reveal his identity. The Rascalz came for the save and were able to give the Home Town Man his mask back before the segment came to an end.
Mike Santana remains focused on the world title
Mike Santana addressed his Slammiversary loss in the next segment. “Though I was cheated, the reality of it was that I lost,” Santana said about his defeat to Trick Williams in a three-way also involving Joe Hendry.
Santana said that the hardest part of his loss was seeing his daughter cry at ringside. “I know at that moment I had to put everything that I was going through aside so that I could be a father and go comfort my little girl,” he said. “As I held her in my arms and I told her that everything was gonna be okay, she looked at me dead in my face, in my eyes, and said ‘Papi, I know, because you’re gonna get him next time.'”
Santana said that he kept fighting during all of the darkest parts of his life, and will continue keep fighting now.
“Mark my f****** words, I will be TNA World Champion.”

Attack from Ash By Elegance brings a sudden end to world title fight
The co-main event of the evening saw Masha Slamovich attempt to win back the TNA Knockouts World Championship against NXT’s Jacy Jayne.
Slamovich was aggressive to start, trying a pair of roll-up pin attempts in the opening minute of the bout. Fallon Henley was able to distract Slamovich early in the match, allowing Jayne to score a superkick to the challenger.
Jayne scored a near fall after connecting with a neckbreaker. Slamovich started to rally back with a series of clotheslines, then a knee and kick to the head of Jayne in the corner. Slamovich dropped Jayne with a Rolling Thunder, but the match suddenly came to an end after Ash By Elegance, the next woman in line to challenge for the title, attacked Slamovich from behind, ending the bout via disqualification but notably keeping the title in Jayne’s possession.
The rest of the Elegance Brand came to the ring, then Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside ran in to cause the heel faction to retreat. While confused by the finishing sequence, Jayne eventually started celebrating after realizing that her reign would continue due to the result.

Santino Marella was infuriated at Ash By Elegance interrupting the world title bout. Marella said that Ash will get her title shot against Jayne next week, and the winner will face Slamovich, who will face the winner of the bout for the title. Marella also noted that the rest of the Elegance Brand will be banned from ringside in next week’s title matchup.
The latest TNA Injury Report said Elijah remains out due to a torn triceps. Backstage, a doctor told KC Navarro that he isn’t medically cleared to compete, removing him from this evening’s main event, where he was scheduled to team with AJ Francis and Trick Williams in six-man action. The broadcast billed that the match had been downgraded to a two-on-two tag instead of a six-man since Navarro was out of the equation.
A video package played about Mara Sadè (formerly Jakara Jackson), who debuted on TNA last week. Commentary noted that she’ll make her first one-on-one appearance since signing with TNA on next week’s episode.

Joe Hendry vs. Mustafa Ali set for next week
Order Four came together for a celebration in the next segment, honoring Mustafa Ali’s victory over Cedric Alexander at Slammiversary. Ali officially introduced Agent Zero, a tall, suited man who helped The Great Hands earn a tag win last week.
Frustrated by the crowd not standing for Order Four, Ali started naming others in TNA whom the fans decided to cheer over him. He mentioned Joe Hendry’s name, and he appeared on the stage just moments later.
Hendry said he had embarrassing footage of John Skyler backstage. In classic Hendry fashion, he unveiled what looked like a video he made. A Hendry doll, dressed up to look like Skyler, was shown eating pizza at catering, buying Joe Hendry merch, and using an Ali shirt to wipe while on the toilet.

Hendry called for a match against Ali on the spot. “No,” Ali replied. “We’ll do it, but we’ll do it next week because I want to give you time to prepare … for something truly to believe in.”
Sami Callihan wants to put career on the line against Mike Santana
Sami Callihan was interviewed about his future in professional wrestling. He mentioned that he remains disgusted with himself after his loss last month against Moose, where he was brutally demeaned and told to retire after the sub-three-minute defeat (Moose was a heel at the time).
Callihan said being in front of the camera “is a disservice to this company,” and that he’d prefer to just work behind the scenes.
"If I lose, I think I got my answer. I think I ride off into the sunset… I leave my boots in the middle of the ring. And the Death Machine retires in Baltimore."@TheSamiCallihan faces his future in pro wrestling in an emotional interview with @TomHannifan.

To see if he still has it, Callihan wants a match at Emergence against Mike Santana. “If I lose … I ride off into the sunset my way, I leave my boots in the middle of the ring, and the Death Machine retires in Baltimore.”

Moose scores clean pinfall win over Trick Williams, earns title shot
The main event of the night saw Eddie Edwards and Moose take on AJ Francis and TNA World Champion Trick Williams. KC Navarro, who was on crutches, was at ringside for the bout.
Edwards and Moose tossed the reigning champ out of the ring as the show went to a commercial break early on. Moose got quite a bit of focus in this match, working during the entire commercial break, including a fun battle of the big men against Francis.
Moose tagged Edwards into the match after reversing a move from Francis into a suplex. Edwards scored a forearm in the corner, but had his next move reversed by Francis, who tossed The System’s member into the heel corner and tagged in Williams.
Williams was thrown to the outside by Edwards, who followed him with a tope suicida. Navarro tripped Edwards and caused him to fall onto the ring apron as the referee was looking away, getting Williams back into the fight. Williams hit Edwards with a clothesline back in the ring, then hit a double-team dropkick after tagging in Francis.
Edwards escaped a sleeper from Francis and then scored a Blue Thunder Bomb, giving him the chance to get Moose back into the fight with a tag. Moose went up against Williams, scoring a pair of big uppercuts in the corner, a Uranage, then a senton. He knocked Francis back out of the ring with a headbutt, then tried for a powerbomb to Williams.
Williams escaped a powerbomb and hit a Trick Kick. The NXT star came running off the ropes for another move, but Moose reversed it into a pop-up powerbomb. Francis got into the ring to break up a pin attempt. Navarro tried to hit Moose with his crutch as Francis distracted the referee, but instead accidentally struck Williams. Edwards kicked Francis off the ring apron, then Moose hit Williams a spear to win the match clean.
