Seth Rollins ruined CM Punk’s night yet again after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
Punk had won the title only minutes previously from Gunther in the main event of SummerSlam night one.
Several days before Rollins appeared to injure his knee at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12, POST Wrestling’s John Pollock was informed by a reliable source to look out for an angle that would see Rollins on crutches.
The storyline nature of the injury was confirmed on Saturday as Seth came hobbling to the stage after CM Punk had won his punishing title match over Gunther.
Rollins then threw his crutches and knee brace away and headed to the ring. He blasted Punk with the briefcase multiple times, cashed in, and hit the stomp for the win.

He was then joined by Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman.
The original match began with Punk and Gunther staring each other out before exchanging holds into the ropes.
The pair then briefly got the better of each other before Gunther floored Punk with a huge chop.
The momentum would swing multiple times, with Punk’s strategy being to go after Gunther’s left arm.
However, each time Punk got the upper hand, Gunther would cut him off with chops, knees, and big boots.
In one sequence, a big chop from Gunther nearly sent Punk out of the ring, only for the Austrian to haul him back from the ropes to hit more chops and a huge boot.
Punk then reversed his way out of a Sharpshooter, but Gunther grabbed the rope to break the hold.
The resilience of Punk infuriated Gunther, who was denied the three-count even after a frog splash from the top rope.
Another rally from Punk saw a GTS countered into a powerslam. Still, Punk kicked out.
Soon after, Gunther showboated to the crowd from on top of the Spanish announce table. Punk yanked his legs from under him, sending him to the floor. Gunther emerged bleeding.
Punk capitalized on the injury with jabs and a leaping elbow. He finally managed to hit the GTS twice to win the title.
His reign would be short-lived, lasting just five minutes.
