Colby Corino has undergone emergency surgery on his back and neck.
Corino, 28, posted an update on Sunday that he went to the hospital this past Thursday evening and was informed he needed emergency surgery on his neck and back.
He included a photo from the hospital while in a neck collar following the procedure, stating:
I went to the hospital on Thursday night and was told I needed emergency surgery on my neck and back. I never thought something like this would ever happen. I’m still processing everything, but I will be okay.
I don’t know if I’ll be in a wrestling ring anytime soon, but at this point, I just want to be able to pick up my son again. I’m not looking forward to this long road of recovery, but I pray that my family and I make it through it.
I ask that you respect me and my family’s privacy for now and not taken it personally if I do not get back to you. I appreciate everyone who’s reached out and love you all.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to aid Corino with his medical bills, as professional wrestling was his main source of income, and he will be out of action indefinitely.
Corino has been a fixture within the industry for his entire life, often seen as a child along with his father Steve, whether it be on U.S. independent shows or places like Zero1 in Japan.
His first recorded match was in December 2001, teaming with his father at the age of five.
Corino wrestled in the annual Scenic City Invitational last month, where he went to the second round, and last wrestled on July 25.
