This is the Vision

Monday Night Raw from Brooklyn kicked off with highlights from this past weekend’s two-day SummerSlam event. The recap ended with Rollins cashing in on CM Punk to win the World Heavyweight Championship. The live show started with the aforementioned new champion, Seth Rollins, accompanied by Paul Heyman and the Seth Riders. Heyman cut a lengthy promo introducing the group, and then Rollins ran down the crowd for chanting “CM Punk” and “OTC” at him for months. Rollins revealed that the only two people who knew his plan were Becky Lynch and Paul Heyman. This brought out LA Knight, who said he was the last one to pin Rollins, feigned injury or not. Rollins shot down Knight’s title challenge, and that brought out Adam Pearce, who complained that Rollins lied to him about his injury; therefore, the match would indeed occur tonight with Reed and Breakker banned from ringside.

Backstage, Dominik Mysterio was celebrating his victory over AJ Styles when Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez walked off to regroup. Mysterio approached the LWO, and Dragon Lee challenged Dom to a match tonight.

AJ Styles then approached and admitted Dom was clever in his victory last night, but he was still after the IC title.

The “Banger” Vortex

The first match of the night was Rusev taking on Sheamus yet again, and Rusev got seemingly zero reaction for his entrance. Sheamus ran to the ring, and the match was underway at a fast pace. Sheamus hit a White Noise from the middle rope, with both competitors landing awkwardly and Sheamus unexplicably not going for a cover. The fight continued after the commercial break as Rusev and Sheamus brawled into the front row. The referee then threw the match out (according to the announcers), but it should have just been a count-out. The brawl then continued with officials trying to separate them.

Waller vs. Penta

Footage was shown from earlier in the day, with The New Day still in mourning, as Xavier Woods wore a giant black lampshade hat when Grayson Waller approached. Waller then took it upon himself to represent the New Day by going to Adam Pearce, who was speaking with Penta. Pearce denied Waller’s request for a New Day tag team title rematch and instead made Waller vs. Penta.

The match began, and less than ninety seconds in, The New Day appeared at ringside but ignored Waller, joining the commentary table. In the end, Penta hit a wonky-looking Mexican Destroyer for the win. New Day got in Penta’s face after the match, and Penta cleared the ring and donned Woods’ hat before diving onto them on the outside to end the segment.

New Women’s Tag Team champions were walking backstage when Rusev and Sheamus brawled through the scene, continuing their fight from earlier.

During the ad break, Naomi cut a promo on the stage running down Brooklyn and telling New Yorkers not to come to her state of Florida. She then turned her attention to Stephanie “Velcro” before she was cut off by the show returning from break.

Women’s Tag Team Championship Match

Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair cut a promo talking about how many times each of them had been a champion when they were interrupted by former champions Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez. Bliss and Flair accepted their rematch challenge, and Adam Pearce came out to make it official (even noting it was the night after SummerSlam, so they’re clearly trying to make that a thing).

For some reason, during this match, Referee Jessica Carr was very audibly calling a significant percentage of the moves towards the end of the match before Bliss hit Sister Abigail for the win.

Backstage, the Kabuki Warriors and Iyo Sky were chatting when Rhea Ripley interrupted, and it was revealed that Sky got a one-on-one match against Naomi. Ripley said Sky should beat Naomi so that she can beat Sky. Sky said Ripley would never beat her.

Backstage, Bayley attempted to apologize to Lyra Valkyria, but Lyra wasn’t having it and told Bayley to stay out of her life.

Dirty Dom vs. Dragon Lee

Next up was LWO’s Dragon Lee taking on Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio. As the match began, they promoted TripleMania, where Dominik will be in a four-way AAA Mega Championship match against El Hijo del Vikingo, El Grande Americano, and Dragon Lee. During the ad break, Michael Cole accidentally referred to AJ Styles as “AJ Lee”, to which Corey Graves joked that Candice Michelle was also there. El Grande Americano and two other Americanos ran out, distracting Dragon Lee and allowing Mysterio to get the win whilst holding the ropes for good measure. After the match, Dom was going to attack Lee, but AJ Styles made the save.

Backstage, Sami Zayn was interviewed and discussed how he wants to become a world champion, with Kross in his rearview. Suddenly, Rusev and Sheamus brawled into frame (somehow they didn’t hear the yelling and punching?), and Sami caught a punch meant for Sheamus.

Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh were interviewed during the ad break and challenged any team to step to them.

You Can’t See Him Anymore

Becky Lynch was out next and celebrated vanquishing Lyra Valkyria and said it was time to open the door to new challengers. This brought out Nikki Bella, who called Lynch a disappointment. Lynch said that she was a featured player in Happy Gilmore 2, while Nikki Bella’s role was cut – something that Lynch took credit for. Bella called Becky and Seth Rollins a liar, which led to Becky referencing Bella’s divorce from John Cena, even eliciting a “holy shit” chant from the crowd. Bella challenged Becky for the IC title, and Becky responded with a cheap shot before retreating to the back.

A little later, Natalya, Maxxine Dupree, and Tozawa approached Becky, and Natalya challenged Becky to a match next week. Lynch accepted but revealed it would be against Maxxine.

Naomi was interviewed backstage and confirmed that she was defending her title against Iyo Sky next week on Raw. Stephanie Vauqer interrupted, saying that she would defeat either Naomi or Sky at Clash in Paris.

Michael Cole then announced that Gunther would be out “indefinitely” after his injury in the CM Punk title match this past Saturday. Also announced was Sami Zayn vs. Rusev for next week’s Raw, live from Montreal.

World Heavyweight Championship

The main event of the evening was Seth Rollins defending his newly won World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight, with Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker banned from ringside.

Seth Rollins set up for a stomp on the exposed concrete floor when CM Punk arrived through the crowd and attacked Rollins, causing the disqualification. Knight was pissed and tried to ask what Punk was doing as he cost him his title match. Breakker then speared Punk out of nowhere, and Rollins hit stomps on Knight and Punk, leaving them lying.

The Executive Producers’ credits flashed on the screen, and it appeared the show was going off the air. Roman Reigns appeared and took out Reed and Breakker. This allowed Rollins to sneak back in and hit the stomp on Reigns, followed by a spear by Breakker and three Tsunamis by Reed. To cap the night off, Bronson Reed again stole Reigns’ shoes.
