Hiromu Takahashi will challenge Kyle Fletcher for the TNT Championship at Forbidden Door on August 24.

The match was made official during the August 13 episode of AEW Dynamite.

The challenge came after Takahashi made a surprise appearance on the show. He was revealed as the mystery partner for Tomohiro Ishii, Brody King, and Hologram in an eight-man tag team match.

Their opponents were TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher, The Young Bucks, and Josh Alexander. In the conclusion of the bout, Takahashi pinned Alexander to secure the victory for his team, leading to the title match being confirmed.

The match is the result of Fletcher’s open challenge for Forbidden Door, in which he requested that New Japan Pro-Wrestling send their best competitor to face him.
