Zack Sabre Jr.’s challenger for the IWGP World Heavyweight title at Forbidden Door was determined at the AEW Collision taping.
Thursday’s taping in Cincinnati featured the “Technical Spectacle” fatal four-way match, where Nigel McGuinness defeated Daniel Garcia, Lee Moriarty, and Hechicero.
It sets up McGuinness, 49, as the challenger for Zack Sabre Jr. on August 24 at the O2 Arena in McGuinness’ hometown of London, England.
After winning, McGuinness asked Daniel Garcia to be in his corner for the match, and he accepted.
After a thirteen-year absence, McGuinness returned to the ring last year at the Casino Gauntlet match at All In at Wembley Stadium and has wrestled matches with Bryan Danielson, Lee Moriarty, and FTR over the past year.
AEW Collision was taped in Cincinnati and will air Saturday night on TNT with the following lineup:
*Nigel McGuinness vs. Lee Moriarty vs. Daniel Garcia vs. Hechicero
*Bryan Keith vs. Juice Robinson
*Kris Statlander vs. Anna Jay vs. Julia Hart vs. Penelope Ford
*Ricochet vs. Ace Austin
*Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly vs. Blake Christian & Lee Johnson
