Tony Schiavone and Matt Menard welcomed us to the broadcast for an episode that was taped on Thursday, August 14. Nigel McGuiness was busy getting ready for his big match later. The show got underway with a promo from AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm.

Toni and Athena share the spotlight

Toni Storm stood in a spotlight in the entranceway to address the crowd. She verbally blasted Athena before getting to her knees to pray that the ‘Fallen Goddess’ would leave Forbidden Door on a budget airline with Storm’s “arse print” on her face.

Athena ran in and attacked. Starkz followed, and the two began a beatdown. Starkz then dragged Storm into the ring. As Athena called for her spotlight, Mina Shirakawa ran out to help, attacking Athena. In the ring, Storm recovered to hit a suplex on Starkz.

The heels escaped, and the segment ended with Storm and Shirakawa celebrating with kisses on the ramp.

A hype package for Hangman’s title defense against MJF was shown, reminding us how Page goaded his opponent into challenging him at Forbidden Door.

Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta vs. Speedball Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight

JetSpeed began the match with fast-paced offense, including stereo dives to the outside. The momentum shifted when Death Riders Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta took control, isolating Knight on the floor.

Control continued as Moxley and Yuta worked over Bailey. Marina Shafir interfered while the referee was distracted, hitting a judo throw on Bailey at ringside. The action broke down moments later when all four men engaged in a lengthy chop exchange in the center of the ring.

The match’s conclusion began when Yuta accidentally struck Moxley with a Busaiku Knee. Bailey capitalized with a UFO splash on Yuta, but Shafir pulled the referee’s attention away to stop the count.

While Bailey neutralized Shafir by sending her into the steel steps, Moxley recovered and hit a Death Rider on Bailey on the floor. Back in the ring, this allowed Yuta to hit a low blow on Knight and secure the pinfall victory with a bridging cover.

A brief 80s-style music video featuring Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd was shown.

Ricochet vs. Ace Austin

After a fast-paced opening exchange, Ricochet gained control of the match. The proceedings were soon interrupted by the appearance of the Gates of Agony on the entrance ramp.

Ricochet capitalized on the distraction, hitting Austin with a brainbuster and a shooting star press for a near-fall. Later in the match, as Austin attempted a dive to the outside, Kaun of the Gates of Agony interfered. Austin managed to fight him off by sending him into the ring post.

Back in the ring, the two men exchanged a series of pin attempts. Ricochet ended the sequence by hitting the Spirit Gun to win the match. Gates of Agony continued the attack after the pin.

The Hurt Syndicate don’t care

MVP, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin tell Renee Paquette there has been no drama. They said they do not care who wins the finals of the tag team challenger tournament.

Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly vs. Blake Christian & Lee Johnson

Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly controlled the early portion of the match with tandem offense. The momentum briefly shifted in favor of Blake Christian and Lee Johnson after Christian executed a Fosbury Flop onto both of his opponents on the floor.

Strong later regained the advantage with a series of signature strikes and slams. As Christian attempted a handspring cutter, Strong countered with a knee to the face. Strong and O’Reilly then hit their High-Low combination to secure the pinfall victory.

After the match, Ishii and Hologram came out to celebrate with their Conglomerate stablemates. Strong, however, exited the ring, signaling seeming displeasure with the group.

Tag team turmoil

A backstage segment showed Stokely Hathaway and FTR standing over a fallen Bandido. Bandido’s partner, Brody King, appeared to avenge the attack, and the brawl with FTR spilled out into the arena.

King was overpowering both members of FTR at ringside until Hathaway threw a handful of powder in his face. FTR took advantage of the situation, stealing Bandido’s mask and laying King out with a Shatter Machine.

Sky Flight’s swear jar

Sky Flight want two members of the Don Callis Family in Scotland next week. Leila Grey swore a lot, and then they left to train.

$100,000 Four-Way Match: Kris Statlander vs. Julia Hart vs. Penelope Ford vs. Anna Jay

The fatal four-way match began as a chaotic brawl between all four competitors. Kris Statlander and Anna Jay were the first to square off in the ring after sending Julia Hart and Penelope Ford to the outside.

The match featured several temporary alliances, with Hart and Ford briefly working together to neutralize Jay. Statlander showcased her power throughout, at one point hitting a double suplex on both Hart and Ford.

The fast-paced closing sequence saw all four women exchange high-impact maneuvers, including a poisonrana from Ford to Statlander and stereo missed moonsaults by Hart and Ford.

The finish came when Statlander isolated Hart in the ring. Statlander applied a scissor choke, forcing Hart to tap out for the submission victory.

Following the match, Skye Blue and Thekla entered the ring to attack Kris Statlander. Queen Aminata and Tay Melo soon ran in to even the odds, followed by Megan Bayne, as a large brawl erupted between the women.

The fight was broken up by a returning Harley Cameron. She appeared with a chain-wrapped paddle and chased all the other competitors from the ring to end the segment.

In a backstage promo, Kyle Fletcher addressed his upcoming opponent, Hiromu Takahashi. Fletcher called Takahashi a worthy challenger but vowed to defeat him, stating that his TNT Championship reign was only just getting started. He said they would see Sky Flight in Glasgow.

Wheeler and Stat, up a tree?

Backstage, Kris Statlander was being interviewed after her win. The interview was interrupted by Harley Cameron, who arrived to celebrate with her. The Death Riders went by, with Wheeler Yuta offering congratulations to Statlander.

Juice Robinson vs. Bryan Keith

Keith took an early advantage by targeting the leg of Juice Robinson, eventually locking in a Cloverleaf submission.

Later, as the match neared its conclusion, Big Bill appeared at ringside and was confronted by Austin Gunn. While the two brawled on the floor, Robinson capitalized on the distraction, hitting a fallaway DDT on Keith to secure the pinfall victory.

Max who?

Max Caster will hold his first international open challenge in Scotland next week. Anthony Bowens was interviewed by Renee and was asked about this. He got very annoyed and stormed off.

Technical Spectacle (winner faces Zack Sabre Jr. for IWGP Title at Forbidden Door): Nigel McGuinness vs. Daniel Garcia vs. Hechicero vs. Lee Moriarty

The match, which also featured Lee Moriarty, Daniel Garcia, and Hechicero, was defined by intricate submission chains and technical exchanges, often with multiple holds applied simultaneously.

The bout began with two distinct pairings, as McGuinness focused his attack on Lee Moriarty while Daniel Garcia and Hechicero engaged in technical exchanges. McGuinness was particularly aggressive, targeting Moriarty’s arm and wrist, stomping on it in the ring and slamming it against the steel steps on the outside. The action was fast-paced, with all four men trading pin attempts and submissions.

The closing stretch began with Garcia locking a Dragon Tamer on Hechicero as McGuinness simultaneously applied the London Dungeon to Moriarty. Garcia taunted McGuinness, yelling “you had your time,” before McGuinness knocked him down with an elbow.

With Garcia and Hechicero momentarily out of the picture, McGuinness reapplied his submission on Moriarty. As Hechicero was about to submit to a separate hold from Garcia, Moriarty reached out and grabbed his hand to prevent the tap. This gave McGuinness the opening to wrench back on Moriarty’s arm, forcing an immediate submission.

After the match, Renee Paquette interviewed McGuinness, who called the upcoming title bout a “dream match.” He then specifically praised the efforts of Daniel Garcia.

McGuinness asked Garcia to be in his corner for the championship match in London. Garcia accepted the offer, and the two shook hands in the ring.
