The Road to Destruction event next month will see two championship matches from New Japan Pro Wrestling.

In the lead-up to the Destruction card, NJPW will hit Sapporo on September 24 with an IWGP Jr. Heavyweight title and IWGP Jr. Heavyweight tag title match on the bill.

El Desperado is set to defend his title against YOH following the challenger’s latest victory over Desperado in a six-man tag.

In their last three singles encounters since 2021, YOH has won all three, including this past May in the Best of the Super Juniors tournament.

On Sunday, YOH pinned Desperado after hitting the Direct Drive in a six-man tag and securing the next title shot.

IWGP tag team champions SHO & DOUKI will defend against Kosei Fujita & Robbie Eagles on the same show.

Eagles & Fujita won the belts at Wrestle Kingdom 19 and held them until April 29, when they were beaten by Master Wato & YOH. SHO & DOUKI became champions at Dominion on June 15.

NJPW has also announced that Hiroshi Tanahashi will take on Master Wato on the September 24 card in Sapporo in a first-time singles meeting.
