Frankie Edgar isn’t done fighting.

Just under three years after his official retirement from MMA, Edgar is booked to appear in a bare-knuckle boxing bout against fellow UFC vet Jimmie Rivera, as first reported by Uncrowned.

Edgar and Rivera are “tentatively” expected to meet as part of BKFC’s October 4 event at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

43-year-old Edgar most notably fought as part of the UFC roster for a decade and a half, appearing in over 30 bouts for the promotion. The former world champion officially stepped away from competition after suffering his third consecutive finish loss, getting stopped within a round by Chris Gutierrez at UFC 281 in 2022.

Edgar was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame as part of the 2024 class.

The upcoming performance will see Edgar search for his first combat sports win since 2020, when he edged out a split decision win over Pedro Munhoz in a five-round result. Before then, his last victory dated back to 2018.

Rivera has competed under the BKFC banner since 2022, earning two wins, two losses and one draw since then. The 36-year-old was planning a return to MMA under the Global Fight League (GFL) before the start-up promotion cancelled its debut events.
