Sol Ruca unsure of WWE Speed’s status: I don’t have an answer

Sol Ruca doesn’t know what the future holds for WWE Speed.

For just over a year, WWE presented a new Speed web series on X, which saw talent face off in singles bouts with short time limits. Non-title action would have just a three-minute timer, and title bouts would be allowed five minutes before a draw would be forced.

While the series aired consistently, as much as twice per week, the show suddenly stopped airing in early July. No official comment has been provided by WWE regarding whether the show will return.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted last month that “there was no official word one way or the other” regarding whether the show was done.

The sudden halt to Speed tapings has been confusing for NXT’s Ruca, who has held the Women’s Speed Championship since April. Ruca noted in a recent interview with Ten Count Media that, while she still sees herself as an active Speed champion, she’s not entirely sure what’s going on with the brand.

“I’m definitely still a double champion,” Ruca described. “I am the Speed champion and the North American Champion. I know there’s a little confusion about what’s going on. I honestly don’t really have an answer either. Until they tell me I’m no longer double champion, I’m still double champion.”

Ruca was seen wearing her Speed Championship on NXT TV just earlier this month, weeks after the show’s last episode was taped. She explained to Ten Count Media that she had recently been given more “leeway” to wear the title on NXT, flexing her champ-champ status along with the Women’s North American title.

“Maybe we’ll start doing stuff on NXT with it,” Ruca said. “I mean, I was starting to wear it on NXT, which before wasn’t allowed because it was a separate universe, being on X. But, I think there was a little bit of leeway, and now we’re just trying to figure out what to do with it.”
