Police have confirmed that an investigation into Hulk Hogan’s death is ongoing as a reported allegation of medical malpractice emerged.

TMZ Sports reported on Thursday that an occupational therapist who was present when Hogan stopped breathing told police attending the scene that the 71-year-old had been the victim of malpractice.

According to the TMZ report, the therapist told police that during a recent surgery, Hogan’s phrenic nerve had been “severed”. The phrenic nerve plays a key role in regulating breathing.

TMZ was told that the police report containing these allegations is on “lockdown”.

Hogan’s widow, Sky, told the outlet that an autopsy has been performed but did not divulge the results. She also claimed that Hogan’s phrenic nerve had been “compromised” during a recent surgery.

Clearwater Police told TMZ an investigation was still underway and made the following statement:

We have been in communication with family members — including his son, Nick, and daughter, Brooke. The unique nature of this case has required us to interview multiple witnesses and seek medical records from a variety of providers, and our detectives continue to do that. All of this takes time.

The Hogan family has been appreciative of our efforts and our communication with them.
