Adam Copeland and Christian Cage had a successful reunion.
Teaming up for the first time since 2011, Copeland and Cage won against Killswitch and Kip Sabian, taking the bout via pinfall in the opening contest of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 on Sunday night at The O2 in London, England.
After a 13-minute battle featuring many notable spots, including Cage diving over the ringpost and to the outside at one point, a bloodied Sabian was hit with a spear from Copeland, allowing Cage to earn the pinfall win.
Copeland and Cage announced earlier this week that they were teaming up to help take out their rivals, but that they weren’t necessarily friends. However, they were able to muster up a celebratory hug in their post-match celebration on Sunday.
The match was Killswitch’s first in-ring appearance in nearly a year, returning to join The Matriarchy and try and take down their past leader, Cage. Formerly known as Luchasaurus, Killswitch made his return to AEW programming on Wednesday, confirming that he would replace an injured Nick Wayne in this weekend’s tag bout.
Killswitch had spent months out of the ring due to a reported battle with pneumonia in both lungs, which left him hospitalized in late 2024.
