WWE’s Speed Championships aren’t disappearing.

It was announced on Sunday night that WWE’s men’s and women’s Speed titles will become a permanent part of the NXT brand.

WWE debuted Speed as a web series in 2024 in partnership with social media platform X. The show featured WWE talents competing in fast-paced matches, with tournament bouts having a three-minute time limit, and title bouts lasting a maximum of five minutes.

While the series chugged along on a weekly basis for over a year, it suddenly vanished earlier this year, with no official statement from WWE regarding what had happened.

Amid the confusion around the status of Speed, the brand’s women’s champion, Sol Ruca, continued to wear the belt on TV and flaunt her double-champ status. Because of this, many thought the brand wasn’t gone yet.

Those who believed in Speed’s survival were correct. As confirmed during the Heatwave broadcast on Sunday night, NXT General Manager Ava said that the titles will become exclusive to the Tuesday night brand.

Ruca will get her next challenger for the women’s title decided through a single-elimination tournament featuring four women: One from the main roster brands (Raw or Smackdown), one from NXT, one from AAA, and finally one from TNA Wrestling. The winner of the tournament will face off against Ruca at NXT’s No Mercy Premium Live Event (PLE) on September 27.

The men’s WWE Speed Championship is currently held by El Grande Americano. It’s unclear if the titles being shifted over to NXT will affect his reign.
