Independent wrestler Syko Stu, real name Stuart Smith, has been released from the hospital following a brutal in-ring incident at a KnokX Pro event in Los Angeles on August 23, 2025.
A statement released on Sunday confirmed that Smith is now resting at home.
The statement, posted to Stu’s official Facebook page, detailed the extent of his injuries and noted that he faces a long road to recovery.
Stuart has been released from the hospital and is now home resting. He sustained a serious head injury and was unconscious upon arrival at the ER. His injuries include trauma to both the upper and lower jaws, a laceration to his upper lip, and a fracture to the maxilla bone, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of several teeth.
He has a long road of recovery ahead, but he remains in good spirits despite everything he has been through.
We are deeply grateful for all the love and support we’ve received during this time. Thank you to everyone who has contributed in any way—whether through monetary donations, food, flowers, or gifts. Your kindness means more than words can express.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
With love and respect,
Contessa Patterson & Stuart Smith (aka SykoStu)
The incident occurred during an event for KnokX Pro, the promotion and wrestling school run by Rikishi and Black Pearl (Reno Anoaʻi).
During the show, Syko Stu struck Raja Jackson, the son of former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, with a beer can, and Jackson took issue. Smith was immediately informed that “he’s not a worker,” and they had to hold Jackson back and calm him.
Smith and Jackson reportedly settled things, which led to the two setting up a spot on the show where Jackson would attack Stu in the ring.
Later in the event, Jackson entered the ring. He slammed Smith to the mat, knocking him unconscious. He then proceeded to deliver more than 20 strikes to an unresponsive Smith before others intervened.
The entire incident was live-streamed.
In the wake of the incident, it was reported that WWE pulled its WWE ID accreditation from KnokX Pro.
A GoFundMe campaign to assist with Smith’s medical expenses has raised over $213,000 as of this writing. Notable donors to the campaign include Chris Jericho, Finn Balor, Swerve Strickland, and Nic Nemeth.
The LAPD confirmed earlier this week that a police investigation was underway, but no arrest has yet been announced.
