TNA Wrestling’s biggest viral star is reportedly on his way to a full-time WWE deal in the next few months.

Joe Hendry, a Scottish wrestler whose online buzz has carried him to the top of TNA and earned him a surprise appearance at Wrestlemania this year, is expected to be “WWE-bound on a full-time basis” by the start of 2026. News of the possible change was first reported by Jon Alba at Sports Illustrated.

While Alba reports that Hendry remains under contract to TNA, he says that the former world champ is “being largely phased out” of the promotion’s plans while continuing to show up on NXT programming. WWE and TNA are currently under a multi-year partnership, which has included an agreement to share talent between shows.

Hendry has remained an active part of NXT’s week-to-week program, even if it means just a brief backstage appearance on some episodes. Hendry appeared backstage with Bobby Roode on Tuesday’s special “Homecoming” edition of NXT. In the exchange, Roode told Hendry that he should start going after NXT’s main title.

Hendry also notably made some appearances during WWE’s latest Road to Clash in Paris tour, working house show matches against The Miz.
