AEW star Will Ospreay provided a positive update on Thursday, telling fans that he had a successful surgery.
Ospreay was written off AEW programming at Forbidden Door last month after a five-on-five lights-out cage match against the Death Riders.
He noted in the lead-up to the bout that he was due for surgery, stating in an interview that he had “a few herniated discs pushing against my spinal cord, which is affecting a couple of my nerves.” While able to perform at Forbidden Door, he said that it was the last match he could do before having to go “get it all corrected.”
A recent social media post from Ospreay assured fans that he underwent surgery and is working on his way to a return.

“The road will be long, but it’ll be worth it to see you all again,” Ospreay said in an Instagram post. “Surgery was a success.”
Lengthy breaks from in-ring action have been rare for Ospreay since he started wrestling in the early 2010s. There are only a few multi-month absences Ospreay has had from the ring, per Cagematch.net. The current injury will mark the first time he has gone more than a full calendar month without wrestling since signing with AEW in early 2024.
