Cody Rhodes defeated Drew McIntyre to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event of Wrestlepalooza on Saturday.

The finish came after McIntyre attempted a big boot on the outside, missed Rhodes, and kicked through the ringside announce table, injuring his leg.

Back in the ring, McIntyre’s leg buckled during a Claymore Kick attempt, allowing Rhodes to hit a cutter followed by a CrossRhodes to secure the pinfall victory.

Throughout the match, Rhodes sold the effects of a potential head injury, appearing dazed after executing some of his signature offense.

McIntyre controlled large portions of the contest, using several high-impact moves on the outside, including throwing Rhodes over the announce table and hitting an Alabama Slam onto the steel steps.

The final minutes of the match featured several dramatic near-falls. McIntyre kicked out of a CrossRhodes, and Rhodes survived a Claymore Kick.

The match was the culmination of a rivalry that saw McIntyre put Rhodes out of action for a month with a storyline injury.
