NXT and TNA will hold a special co-branded event called ‘Invasion’ on Tuesday, October 7, which will air live on The CW.

NXT General Manager Ava made the announcement in a video statement released during Saturday’s No Mercy premium live event.

The event comes after a storyline breakdown in the working relationship between the two promotions. On the September 24th episode of NXT, several TNA wrestlers interfered in a title-for-title match between NXT Champion Trick Williams and TNA World Champion Oba Femi, causing a no-contest and a massive brawl.

Ava stated that after hours of discussion with TNA’s Director of Authority, Santino Marella, the ‘Invasion’ special was agreed upon as a solution.

The special will be headlined by two Survivor Series-style elimination matches, one for men and one for women, pitting NXT talent against TNA talent. Ava confirmed that she and Marella will announce their respective team selections this coming Tuesday.

Also signed for the show is a winner-take-all championship match, as NXT Tag Team Champions Dark State will face TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boys.

Ava also addressed the chaotic ending to the Williams vs. Femi match. She announced that for their rematch, all other wrestlers will be barred from ringside to guarantee a definitive winner.
