Before the Showdown, Everyone Come on Down
New TNA International Champion Frankie Kazarian starts the show, and they note his inclusion on Team TNA for next Tuesday’s Showdown event.
He demanded a standing ovation for beating Maclin at Victory Road and claimed the International title is the most important in TNA while also complimenting Trick Williams.
He referred to The Hardys as “punch drunk marks” and questioned if X Division champion Leon Slater could lead TNA into the future. Then, he brought out Knockouts champion, Kelani Jordan.
.@FrankieKazarian has a lot to say about the champions in TNA!

Despite being taped on Saturday, the commentary reflected all the changes made on Tuesday and their respective roles on the two TNA teams for next Tuesday.
Kazarian said some people think Jordan’s win for the title was a fluke, and she shut that down. Kazarian also said she is from NXT, and that led to an “NXT” chant, which was just hilarious.
Trick Williams comes out, says he likes Kazarian, but he better respect him, and calls Kazarian “second rate”. If Mike Santana lays a hand on Williams before Bound for Glory, the match is off.
Matt Hardy arrives next to defend all the TNA babyfaces as the reason the company is “on fire” and led the crowd to chant “TNA”.
Kazarian asked where Jeff was and joked about him not being allowed in this country. This caused Leon Slater to walk out to stand alongside Hardy.
Indi Hartwell is next to address Jordan before their Bound for Glory match and vowed to bring the title back.
Everyone argued until Santino Marella interrupted to make a six-person tag next.
Trick Williams, Frankie Kazarian & Kelani Jordan vs. Matt Hardy, Leon Slater & Indi Hartwell
Mike Santana joined the commentary team.
Williams held Slater for Jordan to strike, but she was conflicted and couldn’t do it.
Matthew Rehwoldt lamented that three titles could belong to NXT after BFG, so Jordan is a threat to take the title while serving as team captain next week.
Kazarian swung for Slater, who ducked, and he nailed Williams by mistake. Slater finally made the tag to Hardy, and he hit a double DDT on Williams and Kazarian.
Hartwell landed an elbow off the top to Kazarian before Jordan took her out. Hardy prevented the Trick Shot but pulling Williams to the floor. Hardy knocked Kazarian into Williams, who hit Santana, and this was considered “being provoked”, so Santana fought Williams.
Slater hit a dive over the post and pinned Kazarina after the Swanton 450.
WINNERS: Leon Slater (pinned Frankie Kazarian), Matt Hardy & Indi Hartwell
Tommy Dreamer had the roster on the stage for a passionate promo about kicking NXT’s ass.
During the injury report, they stated they were keeping Ash by Elegance’s medical issue “private”.
There was a video package on Mara Sade, who has been wrestling for four years and got into wrestling through Total Divas. When she was released by WWE, she called it one of the “darkest days” of her life, but saw the light after.
Lei Ying Lee & Xua Brookside vs. Kat Von Heez & Ava Lawless
Lawless used a backpack stunner on Brookside, which led to some chants for her. Lee was tagged and struck Von Heez with her kicks and hit Thunderstruck.
They hit their finisher, Heaven Sent, which is an assisted senton off the turnbuckle, and Lee pinned Von Heez.
WINNERS: Angel Warriors (Lei Ying Lee & Xia Brookside)
Joe Hendry was backstage and said “the student overcame the teacher” when he beat Eric Young at Victory Road, but Marella entered to state there will be a No DQ rematch with Young next week, and Hendry looked annoyed when he thought he was moving on.
Amazing Red’s words of wisdom
The second part of Mike Santana’s “Road to Glory” saw Santana meet in an empty gym with Amazing Red. He spoke about Red, Divine Storm, Homicide, The Maximos, and Low Ki opening doors for people like Santana, and not to let someone like Trick Williams disrespect him. Red and Homicide were in the front row at Slammiversary, and they wasted their time because there was no celebration, and Santana doesn’t need any more pep talks. Red tells him to imagine Trick walked up to his front door and slapped his daughter, and this isn’t about his family or friends; Santana needs to do this at BFG for himself. Red ended, “You’re not losing again, bring it home”. This was fantastic.

Nic Nemeth vs. The Hometown Man
Ryan Nemeth came out wearing the mask he stole from the Hometown Man. HTM was out in his Connor McDavid jersey and a new mask.
HTM hit the Hometown Elbow Drop and called for the Hometown Slice, but Ryan placed Nic’s foot onto the rope. HTM hit a dive on Ryan and reclaimed his mask.
He slid into the ring with a superkick and the Danger Zone, with Nic winning the match and ending HTM’s winning streak.
WINNER: Nic Nemeth
The Nemeths continued to attack as Matt Cardona ran down to help, but he was stomped by Nic & Ryan.
Gia Miller to wrestle Tessa Blanchard
Gia Miller responded to last week’s attack by Tessa Blanchard. Miller explained she had Blanchard’s suspension lifted on one condition that if Blanchard attacked her, she would be able to get a match with her, and it would happen at Bound for Glory. She put over the accomplishments of Blanchard, and she isn’t, but she’s been pushed too far and only cares about beating Blanchard within an inch of her life. This was a great promo from Miller, who is a very underrated talker and has been strong in all her angles with Blanchard.
.@MeanGiaMiller has a message for Tessa Blanchard and the fire in her eyes says everything about what she’s capable of #TNABoundForGlory!

Tasha Steelz vs. Alisha Edwards
The System and Order 4 went face-to-face on the floor, distracting the referee and allowing a kendo stick to be handed to Steelz.
Edwards avoided the kendo stick, and she grabbed the weapon to use and won the match with a pedigree.
WINNER: Alisha Edwards
Steelz attacked Edwards from behind, and The System cleared the ring.
Tessa Blanchard was with Victoria Crawford, and she spoke about training at Highspots with George South and inspired Gia Miller to train there. Blanchard tried to help her, but she wasn’t cut out for wrestling, and she complained and went to train under Mike Jackson and saying she should pack her things up again and hit the road.
The Elegance Brand (Heather & M by Elegance) vs. The IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jessie McKay) for the Knockouts Tag Titles
The Edmonton crowd was really behind The IInspiration with multiple chants and adding to the atmosphere.
The champions isolated Lee in their corner and repeatedly Irish whipped her into the corner. Lee kicked Heather away and tagged McKay, but then The Elegance Brand quickly got the heat on McKay and took them to the commercial break.
McKay tried the same spot, kicking Heather away, but when she dove for her partner, Lee was yanked from the apron by M. After a double down, both teams made tags.
Lee hit a codebreaker on Heather for a two-count. The Concierge distracted the referee and leading to a “kick him out” chant. Heather raked the eyes of Lee and hit a DDT, but McKay saved.
Heather grabbed a glass of champagne, missed, and splashed M and The IInspiration hit the IIdolizer on Heather to win the titles.
WINNER: The IInspiration
Final thoughts:
TNA is doing a pretty effective job of promoting Bound for Glory, and they had to balance tonight’s show with the push for next Tuesday’s Showdown (and no doubt, do a bunch of edits after the name change of the event).
The video featuring Mike Santana and Amazing Red, and Gia Miller’s promo, were very strong and the highlights of the show.
The title change in the main event came off well with The IInspiration receiving a great reaction from the audience in Edmonton, and it persisted throughout the match, and the fans were rewarded by seeing a title switch.
Without Jeff Hardy, it’s really hard for them to promote the Tables Match, but they essentially did the big segment last week with all four members of the match negotiating, and they don’t need anything more.
Kelani Jordan winning the Knockouts title has the feel of being a wrench thrown into plans after Ash by Elegance vacated the title. It’s really tough to position NXT vs. TNA and the latter trying to reclaim their belts when Jordan isn’t playing “outside” and is leading TNA’s team on Tuesday, but I imagine they are trying to book themselves out of a tricky spot after losing both Ash and Masha Slamovich last week.
