Hangman & Joe

AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday kicked off with the face-off between Hangman Adam Page and Samoa Joe. The announce team pointed out that six days ago, Page and Joe were teammates, and how much had changed in that time. Hangman said that he owed Joe after he and others helped make his match at All In a fair one. Samoa Joe responded, saying that Page was a pretender and was “no champion” and he would choke him out at WrestleDream. Hangman said that after Joe kicks his ass, he will come out on top anyway, and hopes that Joe will shake his hand and recognize him as the champion of the world.

Footage from earlier in the day aired with The Conglomeration promoting their three matches tonight: Kyle vs. Kyle 2 and Orange Cassidy vs. PAC, and Jon Moxley vs. Tomohiro Ishii later tonight. The group put their hands in, but Roderick Strong refused to participate.

Jon Moxley vs. Tomohiro Ishii

The first match of the evening featured The Death Riders’ Jon Moxley taking on Tomohiro Ishii. Early on, Mox brained Ishii into the ring post, but Ishii no-sold it. Marina Shafir got involved behind the referee’s back as the show went to an ad break.

Ishii was bleeding from his nose as the show returned, and Ishii started fighting from underneath. The two pummeled each other with clotheslines, and Mox nailed Ishii with a flying knee strike. The two continued back and forth with Ishii kicking out of a stomp. Ishii then kicked out of the Paradigm Shift but passed out in the Rear-Naked Choke directly after.

Renee Paquette interviewed The Young Bucks, who were knocking on Tony Khan’s door in search of a “money match.” Matt said that they purchased two tickets to get an up close look at Jurassic Express later tonight, admitting he had to sell some of their sneakers to do so.

After an ad break, a promo package aired, narrated by Renee Paquette, highlighting the history between Timeless Toni Storm and Kris Statlander.

Street Fight

Next was the Street Fight between The Hurt Syndicate and The Demand. The match began on the ramp after The Demand threw all sorts of plunder into the ring. Early on, Ricochet attempted to hide from being attacked under a table propped up at ringside. Soon after, he made a crazy running flip off the stage onto all five other guys in a cool-looking spot.

The unique spots continued with Lashley being caught by a flying chair as he attempted to spear Toa Liona through a table. Ricochet then hit a Shooting Star Press onto Shelton Benjamin on a table, but it didn’t break. Bobby Lashley then speared all three of their opponents and then put Liona through a table on the outside. Finally, Ricochet was triple-teamed and ultimately was given a German Suplex through a table for the win.

(Most of) The Don Callis Family was interviewed backstage, and they ran down their matches between tonight on Dynamite and this Saturday night on Collision.

Jurassic Express In Action

Next up was the return to in-ring action by “Jungle Jack Perry” (no “Boy”) and Luchasaurus, taking on two men who were not named (but may have been “O’Ryan” and KM). The Young Bucks were shown in the crowd but were nowhere near the ring and not sitting next to each other. This lasted under three minutes and ended with JE hitting Extinction on their opponents for the win. After the match, The Young Bucks hit the ring and hit Luchasaurus with the BTE Trigger and challenged them to a match at WrestleDream.

Pac cut a backstage promo saying he was going to make Orange Cassidy suffer tonight. Yuta and Garcia talked about trimming the fat and winning as winners do.

TNT Championship

Next was TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher defending against Paragon/Conglomeration’s Kyle O’Reilly. The crowd started immediately with the “Kyle” chants as Fletcher took control early with a Michinoku Driver.

O’Reilly focused on Fletcher’s arm, and the two exchanged submission attempts to no avail. “Kyle 2” continued to work Fletcher’s arm and was lawn darted into the second turnbuckle for his efforts. O’Reilly scored a handful of near falls until Fletcher hit two  Sheer Drop Brainbusters on O’Reilly for the win. After the match, the DCF and Conglomeration brawled, ending with Mark Briscoe and Kyle Fletcher squaring off. After the commercial, it was revealed that Fletcher would defend against Briscoe at WrestleDream.

TBS Championship

Next up was Mercedes Moné’s open challenge for the TBS Championship, answered by Lacey Lane. Lane got in some impressive-looking offense early on as the show went to ad break.

After the break, Lane’s dominance continued, hitting Moné with a Hammerlock Flatliner for a two-count. Danielson, on commentary, noted that Mercedes is only ten days away from setting the record for longest-reigning TBS Champion. Moné then hit the Moné Maker for the win.

LFI’s Sammy Guevara cut a backstage promo on Eddie Kingston, saying that this Saturday, Eddie Kingston is going down when he faces The Beast Mortos (who was wearing sunglasses for some reason). A rebuttal promo from Eddie and Hook aired directly after (with Eddie wearing Post Wrestling’s own Long & Winding Royal Road t-shirt – available now on Chopped-Tees.com

Double Jeopardy Eliminator

The next match was Brodido facing off against DCF’s Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada. Bandido’s shoulder was heavily taped, as it had been reported that he had recently injured it, but he would work through the setback. Bandido was quickly compromised, leaving Brody King to face Okada and Takeshita on his own. After an ad break, Bandido was back in the corner and got the hot tag from King. From there, the tag champs had a number of near falls before Bandido failed to execute the Twenty-One Plex because of his injured shoulder. Okada then tagged himself in and hit the Rainmaker on Bandido for the win. This match was very good, but there were two to three clunky spots that held it back. The good news is that they’ll get to do it again at WrestleDream.

Shortly later, Bandido blamed himself for their loss, but Brody King said they would never stop fighting.

Willow Nightingale and JetSpeed were interviewed backstage, and they stated that they stand up to bullies and would take out FTR and Megan Bayne this Saturday. FTR, Stokely, Megan Bayne, and Penelope Ford responded after the commercial, saying they were going to put them in their place.

Main Event

The main event of the night was Orange Cassidy taking on Pac in his return match. Pac’s new gear featured a singlet and pants… certainly a new look for The Bastard. Pac took early control after catching a Cassidy dive to the outside and hitting him with a Falcon Arrow on the floor.

Cassidy went for his low-energy chops but eventually built up a head of steam, and at that point, both men were moving at a feverish pace. Orange was again caught on a dive to the outside, but this time hit the Stundog Millionaire on Pac and followed that up with a DDT on the outside.

Cassidy then laid Pac out on the timekeeper’s table with the Orange Punch. Orange then hit a hands-in-pocket dive, putting Pac through the table. Pac then received another Orange Punch, but Pac was able to get his foot onto the rope during the count.

Pac then retreated into the stands set up on the stage and hit Cassidy with a Tombstone Piledriver. Suddenly, Pac’s ankle was chained to the stage by a sneaky Darby Allin. Pac broke free and just made it back to the ring before being counted out and was immediately rolled up for the win. Darby then reappeared on the stage and sprayed something into Pac’s eyes. Allin then brandished a taser and a Molotov Cocktail, but was unable to light it before security tackled him.
