It appears Santos Escobar might not be leaving WWE after all.

A recent PWInsider report says that Escobar has reached a new deal with WWE, keeping him with the same company he has wrestled for since 2019. It’s believed that the new deal came together on Tuesday, per the report.

The recent development is a complete 180, as all signs earlier in the week pointed toward Escobar’s stint with the company coming to a close.

Fightful Select reported on Monday that Escobar’s previous deal with WWE was set to expire that evening. A new agreement was believed to have not been reached by that time, with the story noting that “creative dissatisfaction” from Escobar had created an impasse in negotiations.

WWE.com’s official roster page showed Escobar listed as an “Alumni” of the company on Tuesday, a move which often comes following a wrestler’s exit.

Escobar, leader of the Legado del Fantasmo faction, had been off TV for weeks. His last broadcast in-ring appearance was at WWE and AAA’s Worlds Collide: Los Angeles show back in June.

PWInsider noted that WWE “considered” Escobar’s issues about his creative direction and had given him a “sizeably larger offer.” Specific terms regarding the length or value of the deal aren’t known.
