More WWE releases have been reported, including Wes Lee.
Friday saw numerous cuts at the NXT level, primarily among talent wrestling on Evolve or ones who had not made it to television yet. This was coupled with several WWE ID talents revealing that their deals had expired.
Cory Hays of Bodyslam.net reported that Wes Lee was the biggest name of the releases, with Fightful confirming an updated list of cuts to include Lee, Stevie Turner, Lance Anoa’i, Jin Tala, Drako Knox, Haze Jameson, Summer Sorrell, Brayden “BJ” Ray, and Jamar Hampton.
Wes Lee was the biggest name of the group, as the previous Dezmond Xavier signed with WWE in 2020 alongside Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz. As MSK, the duo was immediately pushed by winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and becoming NXT tag team champions in April 2021.
One year later, Wentz was fired by the company, and Lee became a singles wrestler and played off the story of Wentz’s release with Lee being alone.
It culminated with Lee winning the North American title at Halloween Havoc in October 2022 and holding the title for nine months.
Lee turned heel in 2024 and formed a group with Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont, but had not wrestled on NXT programming since July.
