Following the events of AEW WrestleDream, Mercedes Moné issued a challenge to AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander for a title match at Full Gear on November 22.
In a backstage segment, Moné stated that Statlander ruined her “historic night.” Moné added that she has beaten Statlander twice before and challenged her for the AEW Women’s World Championship.
The challenge follows a pair of confrontations at the pay-per-view. After Statlander successfully defended her title against “Timeless” Toni Storm, TBS Champion Mercedes Moné interrupted the celebration and ordered Statlander out of the ring.
Later, Moné defeated Interim ROH Women’s World Television Champion Mina Shirakawa in a winner-takes-all match. Statlander then returned to the ring, avoided an attack from Moné, and laid her out with a Samoan Drop.
A match at Full Gear would be a rematch from the 2024 event, where Moné defeated Statlander to retain the TBS Championship.
AEW also announced several items for the October 22 episode of Dynamite.
Kazuchika Okada will defend the AEW Unified Championship against Bandido. This title match was made after Bandido pinned Okada during their AEW World Tag Team Championship bout at WrestleDream.
The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, & Powerhouse Hobbs) are set to defend the AEW Trios Championships against The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley, MVP, & Shelton Benjamin). The Hurt Syndicate earned the championship opportunity by defeating The Demand on the WrestleDream “Tailgate Brawl” pre-show.
Finally, the broadcast will feature the bracket reveal for the new AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament.
