Samoa Joe and The Opps turned on Hangman Adam Page following their AEW World Championship match at WrestleDream.
After Page successfully defended the title, Joe’s partners, Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata, came to the ring to check on him. The crowd chanted for Joe, who then shook Page’s hand and raised his arm in sportsmanship.
Immediately after raising Page’s hand, Joe leveled the champion with a clothesline. Hobbs and Shibata joined the assault, putting the boots to Page.
Joe struck Page in the head with the AEW World Title belt. The Opps then held Page in the corner, allowing Joe to hit a Muscle Buster onto the title. Joe stepped over Page’s body and left with his stablemates, flipping off fans on his way to the back.
The attack concluded a hard-hitting match that opened to dueling chants. Joe used his power early, absorbing Page’s offense and dropping him with a shoulder tackle. On the floor, Joe placed Page on a chair and hit a big boot. Page attempted an Orihara Moonsault, but Joe side-stepped, causing Page to crash. Page recovered and hit a shotgun dropkick into the guard rail.
Back in the ring, Joe hit his signature combination of a Manhattan Drop, boot, and running senton for a two-count. He later applied a powerbomb that transitioned into an STF, but Page reached the ropes.
Page fought back, escaping a Muscle Buster attempt and hitting a Dead Eye for a close near fall. Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch, but Page escaped. Page then hit a Buckshot Lariat, but Joe remained on his feet. A second Buckshot Lariat also failed to drop Joe. Page hit a third Buckshot Lariat, which finally put Joe down for the pinfall victory.
