Sting returned to assist Darby Allin in defeating Jon Moxley in a brutal ‘I Quit’ match that closed AEW WrestleDream.
Sting’s help came as Moxley after the Death Riders seemingly attempted to drown Allin in an aquarium tank filled with water in the ring.
As Moxley held Allin underwater, the arena lights went out. When they returned, Sting was standing in the ring with his baseball bat and began choking Moxley with it.
He fought off the other members of the Death Riders and shattered the tank with the bat. Sting then tossed the bat to Allin. As he left, Sting was confronted by Marina Shafir, but he carried her over his shoulder to the back.
Allin used the bat to strike Moxley in the ribs, legs, and across the spine. He then wrapped the AEW flag around Moxley’s throat, hit a Scorpion Death Drop, and followed with a Coffin Drop.
Allin then used the flag to send Moxley onto the broken glass from the tank. He secured the victory after applying the Scorpion Death Lock, forcing Moxley to quit.
The main event was filled with violent spots and interference. Shafir repeatedly aided Moxley, first by tripping Allin, which allowed Moxley to attack Allin with a chain wrapped around his fist. Shafir later retrieved bamboo skewers, which Moxley jammed under Allin’s fingernail on the steel steps. Allin refused to quit, screaming “F—k, no”.
Shafir also pulled Moxley out of the way of a Coffin Drop, causing Allin to crash onto the apron. Moxley then whipped Allin repeatedly with his belt. The rest of the Death Riders eventually interfered, with Claudio Castagnoli launching Allin from the ring through the commentary table. Moxley also hit a Paradigm Shift on Allin from the apron through two tables, drawing “This Is Murder” chants from the crowd.
After the match, Allin raised the AEW flag as the show concluded.
