Updated WWE Raw lineup: #1 contender for Intercontinental Championship to be determined

WWE Monday Night Raw General Manager Adam Pearce has confirmed a new segment for this week’s upcoming episode.

Pearce announced in a WWE social media post that a new #1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship will be determined during tomorrow’s episode at the Honda Center in Anaheim California, when Penta and Rusev face off.

Whoever wins in the upcoming singles bout will get one step closer to holding gold for the first time in a while.

Penta has yet to claim a championship in his rookie year as a WWE wrestler. Similarly, Rusev hasn’t grabbed a belt since he re-joined the promotion in May. Both have previously battled with current champ Dominik Mysterio, with past meetings being unsuccessful.

It was previously announced that Nikki Bella will appear in singles action on Monday, going one-on-one with Roxanne Perez. We’re also expected to see CM Punk and Jey Uso, contenders for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship, meet in a face-to-face segment.

While it wasn’t mentioned by Pearce in the social media post, it was noted on Friday’s episode of Smackdown that Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair had been challenged to a match by Bayley and Lyra Valkyria for Monday, a bout they have accepted.

  • Nikki Bella vs. Roxanne Perez
  • Penta vs. Rusev (WWE Intercontinental Championship #1 Contenders)
  • Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair vs. Bayley & Lyra Valkyria (WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships)
  • CM Punk and Jey Uso go face-to-face
